The R&S #CMW500 series of broadband radio communication testers from #RohdeSchwarz features a new solution for #realtimemeasurement of #Bluetoothsignals that supports a new channel detection feature. The #Bluetoothchanneldetection feature will provide unprecedented accuracy in determining the location of devices used in #consumer and #commercial applications. #Manufacturers developing #Bluetoothchips and devices eagerly await the ability to measure such signals. Bluetooth is the most widely used technology for consumer and commercial devices in location-based applications. The soon-to-be-released #ChannelSounding feature will significantly improve the accuracy of real-time location services. It will determine the location of a #Bluetoothdevice with an accuracy of less than 50 centimeters. In addition to improving location accuracy, Channel Sounding is expected to consume less power than existing Bluetooth location services while providing greater security. Improved accuracy would be a major breakthrough, especially for applications inside buildings, such as tracking assets in factories or warehouses, and securing access to buildings or vehicles. In order to take advantage of the improved positioning capabilities, hardware modifications must be made to Bluetooth devices to support the new physical layer. As a result, engineers looking to develop chips and devices that implement channel detection capabilities urgently need to be able to measure signals reliably and accurately in order to be able to deploy these new features.
