At the SpliTech 2024 conference which took place in Croatia 🇭🇷 on June 25-28, our team members Konstantinos Chatzikonstantinidis and Effrosyni Giama had the privilege of presenting their research on critical areas within the realm of #sustainable management: carbon neutrality and Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI), #energy and water resource management ⚡️💧. The papers they presented (a total of 3) encapsulate the essence of the studies and their significance in addressing contemporary global challenges. PAPER 1: Smart Buildings and Water Management in Crises: the Case of COVID-19 Lockdown (Authors: Konstantinos Chatzikonstantinidis, Effrosyni Giama, Georgios Chantzis, Anastasia Zafeiriou, Paris Fokaides and Agis M. Papadopoulos) In this study, the focus shifts to the challenges of water management during the COVID-19 #lockdown. Through a comprehensive literature review and a case study conducted on a residential complex in Cyprus, the research highlights the significant changes in water consumption due to lockdown measures and the associated implications for water resource management. The paper outlines essential strategies for effective water management in #smartbuildings during crises, such as real-time monitoring, data analytics, automated leak detection, and user engagement. The findings stress the need for resilient and adaptable smart building technologies to navigate the complexities of such unprecedented situations. Stay tuned for the public release of the paper!
