🌟 Celebrating Malaysia Day: A Time for Growth and Unity On this Malaysia Day, we reflect on the strength that comes from unity and collaboration. As a nation, we’ve achieved incredible milestones by working together towards common goals—and the same applies to every organization striving for excellence. In the consulting and training world, success is built on continuous growth, shared knowledge, and the willingness to adapt. Just as Malaysia thrives through diversity, we help businesses embrace change, improve processes, and elevate their teams. Let’s use this day to remind ourselves of the power of learning, collaboration, and innovation. As we celebrate Malaysia’s journey, let’s also commit to building stronger, more resilient organizations that contribute to a brighter future for everyone. 🌍 Wishing everyone a meaningful and inspiring Malaysia Day! #MalaysiaDay #LeadershipDevelopment #ContinuousImprovement #Consulting #Training #GrowthMindset #Collaboration

The phrase "cross-functional collaboration" is commonplace in most commercial entities, often being the "buzzword/phrase" that is spewed ever so rampantly with the goal of rallying troops within organizations...but more often than not, backfires and instead becomes the butt of jokes within the grapevine. Eg. "Cross-functional my ass.. the top also not aligned, and they expect this cross-functional nonsense.." All too familiar? Repetition of catchphrases and buzzwords mean nothing without leaders walking the talk, without consciously embedding and implementing this in our day-to-day work lives. As cliche as it may sound, I am proud to say that here at Heineken Malaysia, we do not just call ourselves a One Strong Winning Team for the sake of portraying an illusionary positive culture. Here at Heineken Malaysia, we truly embrace differences, champion authenticity and come together as a united entity, focused on common goals; Winning vs the Competition and Brewing the Joy of True Togetherness. Granted, not all days are perfect but for the most part, life is pretty damn good. #WeAreHeineken P/s: Photo below taken during one of many cross-functional market visits during this festive season. 🔴 Happiness can be learned - Offline and now Online at #AHK Malaysia In October, we held the holistic resilience workshop "Happy for No Reason" with the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry | AHK Malaysia team. In an entertaining way, the team members were inspired to explore themselves better and to further discover their potential. Happiness can be learned. It always takes 3 steps: 1. a realization 2. a deep personal decision 3. remembering and sticking with it for a few weeks Now the time had come and we underwent the practice check online. We discussed what concrete #improvements had been made in the lives of individual colleagues after three months. I was absolutely impressed! Many of them took their promises to themselves very seriously and integrated them into their lives step by step. This resulted in reports such as: 📌 I get annoyed much less 📌 I can keep my focus better 📌 I am no longer stuck in worry loops 📌 I have reduced my weight 📌 I give significantly more appreciation 📌 I sleep better 📌 My relationship has improved 📌 I am happier 📌 I laugh more often When I hear that, I know why I love what I do so much. Inspiring people to take responsibility for themselves and to recognize what they can do to improve their professional and personal lives is my second calling. Thank you to the mega team at AHK Malaysia for your trust and overwhelming commitment. Dr. Eva Langerbeck Daniel Bernbeck #happiness #inspiration #team 📌

Are you ready to be entertained this week? Jakartans and visitors will be spoiled in Jakarta. There will be 2 major entertainment events happening back to back. First, it will be the World Cup Qualifying Match between Indonesia and Australia on 10th September at Gelora Bung Karno. Indonesia will be the favorite in this match because Indonesia is the host and the stadium was blessed by Pope Francis last week. 😁 The Second event is Bruno Mars' concert at Jakarta International Stadium on the 11th, 13th, and 14th of September. This visit will be special to mark Bruno Mars' third concert in Indonesia and promote his new song with Lady Gaga: "Die With A Smile." To all business-minded people, these events will bring enormous business potential. For example, drinks-related businesses like PT. Sinar Sosro, Danone Aqua and PT. Mayora Indah Tbk will record high sales numbers due to high demand in drinks to cope with Indonesia's hot and humid climate. Other businesses that will reap huge money are transportation, personal care, cellular phones, and apparel, and oh, have I mentioned pinjol (with salary in Jakarta, some people surely need financial support for entertainment)? Is there any business I missed? Picture credit: Bruno Mars' Performance in Kaohsiung from Taipei Times.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞: 𝐌𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲. Malaysia’s cultural richness and racial diversity is something we might take for granted. Reflecting on my school years, I’m grateful I attended national schools for both primary and secondary education, where a significant number of my friends were non-Malays. Those experiences shaped my understanding that prejudice and racism often arise from fear—fear of the unknown. It's true that ignorance plays a part, because once you’re consistently exposed to diversity, you realise there’s nothing to fear. In fact, the only prejudices you might hold are those learned at home. Through shared experiences—whether pain, happiness, or the challenges of growing up—we can break the cycle of prejudices passed down by earlier generations. 𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬. In Form 4, I wasn’t the best student. I’d done well enough in PMR to choose the science stream, even though I knew I wanted to study law, mainly because of the stigma attached to other streams and wanting to stay with my friends. But my disinterest in science, combined with my focus on basketball, led to poor grades. One day, after failing a physics test, I was visibly upset. My closest friends at the time—a Chinese boy, a Malay boy, and an Indian Muslim—tried to cheer me up, and then did something unexpected: they spoke to the teacher on my behalf. When they returned my test paper, I saw I had passed. To this day, I don’t know what happened—whether the teacher made an error or took pity on me—but what I do know is that my friends stood by me. They didn’t care about race, religion, or cultural background. What mattered was the bond we developed in school through a combination of shared experiences, common interests, and care and respect for one another. Looking back, I’m immensely grateful for those friendships, which taught me that kindness transcends differences. It’s these connections that show the true power of diversity. 𝑯𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝑴𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒔𝒊𝒂 𝑫𝒂𝒚!
