Provider of working capital and accounts receivable management expertise to growing businesses across the upper midwest.
Not the best warm and fuzzy credit policy, but if you can get away with it, not the worst idea either. Even though I'm in the factoring business, I always tell people the best way to manage your A/R is to not have A/R. However, most businesses who want to grow need to offer terms. But before you do, establish a credit policy! I can't tell you how many times I'm introduced to a company that has just given 30+ day terms to customers without doing any due diligence. When we look at them and ask for credit references, that customer might not be willing to provide them because they weren't asked for them up front. It's standard and customary to have to apply for credit. Business owners should not be afraid to ask up front, before shipping product!
