Are you told you’re overtesting your releases? When QA teams get in the firing line because they’re perceived as blocking release, this often comes up. What does it mean? Now, please keep in mind context matters, and I’ll be speaking in very general terms. However, I’ve seen this often in my consultancy practice, and this what I observed. Developers sometimes feel that QA run tests are duplicating areas they feel are sufficiently covered in tests they wrote. If this is the case, get the team together and do a test case review, where developers and testers together investigate what is - and isn’t! - covered in the low level tests. From there, you can develop a strategy for filling the gaps. This way, you’ll be sure to get the most out of different test levels without stepping on each other’s toes.

As a team lead you’ll want to enforce unit testing within your team by making sure every new piece of code in a PR is unit tested. This can be extra time consuming for a manual review for this. I published an article about this and how you can ensure that every new functionality is unit tested https://lnkd.in/eZn8qNe4

As a QA professional, it's essential to communicate the value of our work to non-technical stakeholders. One effective way is to align QA objectives with business goals and demonstrate how our efforts contribute to the overall success of the project. Using simple and relatable examples, we can show how QA activities directly impact user experience, brand reputation, and cost savings through defect prevention. Building a strong partnership with non-technical teams and openly sharing QA insights can also bridge the understanding gap and emphasize the business significance of our role.
