Hi Rowan, Thank you for sharing this video clip. Please allow me to tag along with your post on this important day of commemorating "Human Rights Day".I would like to draw parallels with Nelson Mandela's leadership principles as I share my thoughts below: My humble view on this clip is that, as leaders in the corporate world, we can learn from President Nelson Mandela's statement by understanding the importance of building trust and rapport with our employees. By demonstrating integrity, empathy, and a commitment to our employees' well-being, we can alleviate fears and create an environment where people feel valued and respected. This fosters a culture of collaboration and openness, leading to greater acceptance and support from team members. As leaders, we should avoid instilling fear rather than trust and respect, as often resorting to authoritarian or dictatorial tactics. Instead of fostering loyalty and collaboration, fear-based leadership can result in resentment, low morale, and decreased productivity among team members. Effective leaders understand the value of empowering their teams, promoting open communication, and leading by example rather than relying on fear tactics to maintain control. If all of us as leaders prioritise being liked over fostering healthy disagreement and constructive feedback, we will struggle to build trust with our teams, ultimately hindering the development of strong and high-performance teams. It's also my humble opinion that true leadership involves engaging with differing viewpoints, encouraging open dialogue, and valuing diverse perspectives. When we create an environment where team members feel safe to express their opinions, even if they disagree, they can demonstrate their commitment to collaboration and growth, ultimately earning the trust and respect of their teams. 18.07.2024 - Celebrating Nelson Mandela Day! No matter how small your action, Mandela Day is about changing the world for the better just as he did, every day! Here are some of our favourite quotes from Mandela: 1. Nothing’s impossible “It always seems impossible, until it is done.” 2. Make a difference “What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.” 3. Make mistakes “Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again.” 4. Don’t waste time “We must use time wisely and forever realize that the time is always ripe to do right.” 5. Choose your friends wisely “I like friends who have independent minds because they tend to make you see problems from all angles.” #MandelaDay2024 #ItIsInYourHands #dischemmedia #retailreimagined

One thing YOU can do today is to calculate your location / school / business carbon footprint using the comprehensive UNFCCC carbon calculator. My school has done this AND also purchased offsets from the UN platform. #Actnow

Here at the launch of #HIBSAfrica 2024 to support my #trailblazing friend Gwen Gyimah Addo, #CEO of The Hair Centre, a remarkable #leader in the #beauty/#fashion industry in #Africa and beyond. One thing I appreciate about what Gwen does is breaking the artificial, and quite frankly nonsensical, #secular-#sacred divide. Every field of endeavour is God’s. Instead of secular-sacred, the true divide is #good-#evil. Good of #God, evil of #Devil. #Beauty is #good. Perbi Executive Leadership Education (PELÉ)

The first thing Jesus did when He started his ministry was to pick a team and not one of Jesus 12 disciples was a clergyman. There were no rabbi, priest or pharisees on His team. 1) When picking a team you need diversity. Creativity is at it’s best when we cross-pollinate, we think differently, have different skill sets but we are heading in the same direction. 2) The bulk of Jesus’s time on earth was spent with His team, NOT the crowd. It is your team that will help you accomplish the vision not the crowd. Spend more time with your inner circle then you do with the crowd. https://lnkd.in/gNGzeMe

What can we learn from Europe's, current, longest standing monarch, "Queen Margrethe II". She has abdicated her throne and Denmark has a new king. Frederik X! Today's reflection is about empowering others and sharing your knowledge, experience, and insights. When you willingly share with others and do not hoard knowledge you end up helping people around you. Knowledge is here to be shared with others, not held onto. Just like the queen abdicating, younger generations should be seen as the future for companies and countries. Are you a person that shares knowledge or one that tends to hold on to it, to try to get ahead? The people you help today might be the people you need help from in the future. Let us all empower others and share our experiences. #leadership #coaching #lifecoaching #development #growthmindset #corporatelife #habits #personaldevelopment #selfimprovement #empowerment #careergoals #promotion #careeradvice #mindfulness #balancelife #glehago

How easily we can think something is impossible to achieve yet if we get on with it before we know it gets done! For me my mindset is key in overcoming internal or external obstacles. What is your experience? #mindset #icfcoaching
