Found this quite funny. I remember applying for a Forklift Operator role and recieved a phone call the next day for a quick phone interview. At the end of the interview, the consultant asked “do you have any questions?” to which I replied “Yes! What’s the main duties of the role please, other than obviously operating of Forklift” .. there was a silent pause, followed by afew “umm” and “aahh” … and then the sudden “It’s just your normal warehouse duties. It’s simple.” I don’t know about you guys but warehouse duties aren’t as “simple” as people may think. Operating a forklift in a narrow aisle alongside other forklift operators AND pickers, isn’t “as simple” as you may think. Constantly picking and stacking pallets 7.5hrs a day, 5-6x a week while keeping above KPI’s isn’t “as simple” as you may think. Managing the whole operations ensuring your ass doesn’t get chewed up by your HOD isn’t “as simple” as you may think. I love that NewWay Solutions have worked the floors and managed operations over the course of 15yrs, which gives us an in-depth understanding and firsthand experience on all things Supply Chain and Logistics. Our team know what we’re hiring for in the niche that we’re in and we all understand that there is nothing “simple” in Logistics. “Logistics is very simple” - said someone with zero experience! 😅 Anyway, Happy Monday 🙂

My early career years Operations Assistant Transport I would always do my office work that's it come dispatch time trucks did not leave the yard Why didn't the trucks leave? I would answer boss it's the workshop... One day my boss came in early and took me to the workshop after entering the planning room he pointed at a desk "that's your desk" and said you're Workshop Manager now🤔🙄 And before i could open my mouth to speak he said "David you still maintain your job as Operations Assistant " On that day i knew i have been fixed🛠 With the little mechanical knowledge ⚙, i got so involved in the workshop to an extent that when the workshop is overwhelmed I jumped into the overalls became an extra hand...🔧🔧 On top of that I did my Operations Assistant job. I was the 1st man to get through the doors and the last one to leave. Benefits Trucks were dispatched on time.✅ The workshop was run efficiently.✅ When the tyre man is not in....I had to do it👍🏿 When the airman is not in...I had to do it 👍🏿 The technical aspect got to me in most activities tyre management, proactive maintenance etc. We planned better with my workshop team we would give accurate ETAs. Because i knew how long it takes to change a tyre, Time it takes to do General service of the vehicle. More productive.... knowing the time frames made it easier to manage the workshop team and when one is lazing around it would be easy to spot and correct Which in turn made my Operations Assistant roll better. Clients were satisfied with Fleet availability. We reduced fleet down time to the minimal Breakdowns were managed efficiently Thanks SS 💪🏿 for pushing me i will forever be grateful
