🧬🥼 On the whole companies are pretty terrible at advertising their jobs. The mindset of most is "we have a job, you're looking for a job, you will apply". Some have the mindset of "the science will sell". Because of the tough market we're in right now this is mostly true, and each ad will have heaps of applications - just look through most ads right now - companies hold all the power. This can lead a company to think they're doing the right things - and here lies the problem… 😮💨 Often there's such a focus on the roles and responsibilities of the job, that a job ad can become littered with needless information and too much jargon. People who are searching for a specific role mostly have the technical skills required and whilst it is important to get that aspect across it's also about selling the other areas of the job/your company. Brings me on to the next point - very few companies focus on the inner workings and culture of a company. You should be including everything you can. If you're a small start-up, talk about that, you wont get people applying who're looking to join a large company. If you're a company who doesn't prioritise socialising outside of work then talk about that, you'll avoid the people applying who're wanting that. Not only will it save time sieving through CV's and screening then but it'll save the persons time who's applying too. 🤝 More importantly though, you're likely to get less staff turnover! No company wants someone new into any position every 6-12 months, they want someone who is the exact match on hard skills, soft skills, personality etc - it will avoid you needing to go through the hiring process multiple times and simply wasting time which let's be honest is one of the most important things in a life science company. #pharma #biotech #lifesciences #jobad
