The 2024 Paralympics are here, and athletes such as blind runners have to rely on a tethered guide to compete. Numerous times, this has ended with guides falling mid-race and taking the runners with them. What if there was a simple solution to change the way these athletes could perform? That's where HapticNav comes in. We did it with Simon Wheatcroft, a blind runner who made history by successfully completing the NYC Marathon with our technology. In 2021, we met with Daniela Velasco, a Paralympic runner, and donated our technology in hopes of showcasing the future of the Paralympics. GoGoosey is my friend's company. She creates a quick-drying onesie that means you don't have to dress and change your kids after the pool, swimming pool, or splash park. If you are a parent, this is an obvious Godsend for easily the worst part about taking your kids from a swim. But now she has launched a Kickstarter because adults (surfers, swimmers, paddleboarders, etc.) also can't be bothered to get changed after their sport. So here it is - the Kickstarter for her unique onesie for women (men's version comes later). Launching a new physical product line in a burgeoning business is incredibly difficult. Supporting this Kickstarter, basically by pre-ordering the onesie, will allow her to add a product line to the successful kid's products and help the business go to the next level. Some food for thought as you watch the amazing athletes at the Olympics this year. "In a survey of about 1,000 American athletes in the Olympic and Paralympic pipelines, 26.5% reported individual incomes under $15,000 a year." We love watching our country's athletes compete on the world stage, but remember that most are 1) not receiving extra $$$ from the big media and corporate endorsement $$, and 2) even if they get a boost in the Olympic weeks, they've gone through YEARS of hard work and struggle to get there. 🛹 Calling All Local Connections in Huntingdonshire and Cambridgeshire! 🏢 As a parent in our community, I'm excited to share some news about an initiative close to my heart. Let's Go Skate, a local non profit organization, provides invaluable skateboarding lessons for our students here in Huntingdonshire. Now, they're aiming to build an indoor skatepark, offering our kids a safe and year-round space to enjoy their passion. Why is this so crucial? Well, let me tell you. An indoor skatepark means our children can engage in their favourite activity regardless of the weather, ensuring their safety and well-being all year round. But it's more than just a place to skate. It's a hub for building a strong and connected community, where children can come together, learn from each other, and develop lifelong friendships. Beyond the physical activity, skateboarding offers numerous social and health benefits for our children. It teaches them resilience, determination, and teamwork, while also promoting physical fitness and mental well-being. But here's the urgency: Sport England has pledged £7k towards the project, but we must reach £20k within the next two weeks to secure this vital funding. This is where we can all play a role.
