When you think something is not possible and you find out that it is... 💪 While researching & designing new forecasts for Sonuby 1.6, I found out that meteoblue now offers additional snow forecasts (specifically snow depth), which I desperately needed to create a Skiing & Snowboarding report. New paper out 💥 “Health is Just the Basic Requirement for Optimal Performance and Winning”: Stakeholders’ Perceptions on Testing and Training in Competitive Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding and Freestyle Skiing Huge thanks to Caroline Bolling, Jörg Spörri, Evert Verhagen, Vincent Gouttebarge and Peter Balsiger Key findings: 1️⃣ “Winning” was described as the end goal, requiring athletes to compete in their best condition. 2️⃣ Assessing athlete’s status periodically led to the collection of data on their physical and mental status, eventually guiding the next steps in the training plan process. 3️⃣ Goal setting and planning involve communication and shared decision making, supported and driven by an athlete-centred process. 4️⃣ Testing and training practices follow a cyclic pathway, informing for and leading to the starting point of the process. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dvbDVv_n

Skiing with my kids in a snowstorm is a great way to learn about communication. From deciding who leads the pack to when we’re taking breaks, it takes a lot of teamwork. Not only are we building up their skiing skills, but also their ability to look out for each other and break down tasks into achievable milestones. A serious message about a real danger on the slopes. Skiing or riding while impaired is a stupid decision to make. There are inherent dangers to skiing and riding, but having to deal with drunk or stoned people isn't inherent. It's a danger caused by a selfish, stupid decision. Skiing and riding require sure feet and quick wits, not blurred brains in dumb s#its. People get killed in collisions caused by skiing or riding impaired. I know first-hand how horrible it is to lose a friend because of someone sliding under the influence. I love the mountains. I accept the inherent risks.
