Filling in an Expat Job Position Last-Minute. What Are the Risks❓ In the fast-paced world of recruitment, last-minute Expat job offers are not uncommon. We have worked with numerous clients in stressful situations because the plunge had to be taken now, leaving no time to prepare. It can work (if the expat has relocated previously), but we do not recommend it, especially not if the expat is bringing family. The risk of failure is high, meaning ROI is lost. 💸 However, when deciding to go ahead anyway, the challenges and support needed will be crucial to securing success. Companies must free up resources to provide thorough and fast response support from HR/mobility teams in these cases. One thing is moving your employee from A to B and prepping them for culture, the expat life cycle, and how to navigate around the risk of expat burnout. Preparing and supporting the family is entirely different, this is where it gets tricky. 👈 More often than not, the preparation of the family is not done, last-minute posting or not. This means that there is no existing process in place to tap into, and therefore things remain per usual. What we find is that most companies are actually aware that an unhappy family means a stressed and underperforming expat, and that most companies also genuinely want to take this into account. Resources (and time) and "how-to" are the feedback we hear when discussing why things remain the same. When the position has to be filled last minute, it isn't even in question to try to make time for it. This highlights the importance of easy plug-and-play solutions that don't add time-consuming tasks to HR/mobility teams, and an expat support system that is available for the expat and family – wherever they are and whenever they make the time. Our Expat Video Academy https://lnkd.in/gfZ4uck3 is available online, on-demand. It is subtitled and can be seen on any device. We packed it with short videos, and we keep uploading new ones, with anything expats need to know to ensure a smooth transition and expat life – even in the eleventh hour. info@expatadvising.com #ExpatLife #JobOffers #HRSupport #GlobalTalent #expatacademy

🎓 After graduation, I set out to achieve my dream: starting a beauty salon software company in Morocco. Here's what happened (Part 4): March 2024 – I had been working as a software developer for six months. Finally, we launched the big project we had been working on for months at the company. At the same time, I finished a stable version of my software and was ready to show it to beauty salons in Morocco for feedback. But then, our work setup changed from fully remote to hybrid, with one week in the office and one week online. I faced a tough choice: -Delay my startup to save more money. -Start right away, with enough funds to keep going for one year. I asked myself: "Would I ever ever regret leaving my job if my startup failed and I had to find a new job in a year?" My answer was 'No.' I calculated the worst-case (no revenue, no part-time jobs) and best-case scenarios (finding part-time work, some revenue). I spent a lot of time thinking and getting advice from friends. It was a hard decision. In the end, I knew I wouldn’t regret trying. So, I quit my job, and shortly after I have came across a lot of part time opportunities that help me currently sustain the project. In Part 5, I will be sharing the first struggles after leaving my secure job. #Entrepreneurship #StartupJourney #CareerChange #FollowYourDreams #TechInBeauty #Morocco #LifeDecisions #Inspiration #SoftwareDevelopment #BusinessLaunch #StayTuned

HR Consultant | Author | IPM Namibia CEO | Job Finder Coach | Executive and Management Coach | IPM Namibia HR Excellence Award 2023 Winner
My Manifesto 👌🏾 During my time at UCT,one of our lecturers gave us a class activity to write ✍️ down a manifesto about the type of work environment we would like. I came across what I put together and when I read it, it made me realise that Hito HR and Training Consultants is the answer. Our workplace culture is a result of these words. It's a blessing to live the dream and create a great workplace. In addition, the commitment and dedication towards Namibian workplaces to be conducive is a message from the heart. We are a remote company and we believe in a culture of freedom and responsibility. #PeopleOverProfits #PeopleFirst
