Navigating conflicting priorities in AI projects

In a future dominated by AI, the true differentiator won't be technology—it's human collaboration. Two weeks ago, at OpenAI's #devday, Kevin Weil shared a quote that stuck with me because it perfectly captures the value of human collaboration in an AI-driven world: "No matter who you are, most of the smartest people work for someone else." This is known as Joy's Law, and it's more relevant than ever because it highlights the importance of tapping into external expertise, especially as AI reshapes the workforce. This means that collaboration across teams and organizations is essential for navigating this new landscape. In an AI-powered future, there will be fewer employees, flatter structures, and an accelerating pace of change. No one company or individual can hold all the expertise needed. That's why human collaboration is the real competitive edge—enabling us to become better strategic thinkers and creative problem solvers. As AI handles repetitive tasks, the real unsolved problem is how we build tools that help us become hyper-connected through shared experiences. By sharing personal knowledge, we can drive growth, creativity, and resilience in a way that AI alone cannot achieve.

What does AI bring to the table when it comes to prioritization? During this Rosenverse Community event on July 11, 2024, Mark Interrante and Harry Max explored how AI can assist in deciding what tasks and projects deserve our attention. They emphasized the importance of using AI not just as a tool for automation, but as an intelligent assistant that can help teams navigate complexities in project management. As Harry noted, “Prioritization is a political process,” highlighting the need for human judgment alongside AI insights. This talk is incredibly relevant today as organizations increasingly rely on AI to manage workloads and streamline decision-making processes. If you're interested in diving deeper into how AI can reshape prioritization practices, I encourage you to watch the full session here: https://lnkd.in/egdC_6Ee (available for members of the Rosenverse only). 🌿 What if technology could help us connect better as humans and take action together for the planet? 🌿 At the recent AI for All Buildathon, hosted by 42 London, we partnered with Friends of the Earth to explore this idea through their Money Movers programme—and the result was OctopAI. OctopAI is an empathetic AI assistant designed to support group facilitators by “reading the room,” simplifying complex topics, and ensuring everyone’s voice is heard. Its purpose? To reduce barriers for hosts, boost participation, and help groups take collective action for climate change. For the students at 42 London, this project was about more than just building a prototype: ✅ They collaborated with real stakeholders to solve a meaningful problem. ✅ They gained technical skills (real-time transcription, NLP, and AI coaching prompts). ✅ They strengthened teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity—all critical skills for thriving in their future careers. As Friends of the Earth put it so well, this wasn’t about replacing people with technology—it was about enhancing human connection. And that’s what excites us most: AI solutions that empower people to tackle the challenges that matter most. 👏 A huge thank you to Friends of the Earth for their vision and creativity, and to all the mentors, students, and partners who brought this Buildathon to life. 🌿 Can AI help us better connect at a human level? 🌿 We’ve been exploring how AI can enhance, not replace, human connections in our environmental work. From sparking meaningful conversations to helping people take action together, we’re experimenting with ways AI can support deeper relationships—whether it’s tackling local challenges or reimagining the future of collective action. Curious about what we’ve been learning?
