So, what helps a freight broker be adaptable? ✔ Being intellectually flexible and able to switch from details to the big picture and explain it to customers. ✔ Being receptive and keeping a positive attitude looking for new ways to help customers reach their goals. ✔ Being creative and comfortable trying new things or thinking outside the box. ✔ Modification of behavior to meet each customer's needs or handle unexpected situations. Some people are naturally adaptable, they like changes and the unexpected and alter their routines as much as they can. However, I am the kind of person who has a ‘to do’ list and doesn’t like it when something arises which isn’t on my list, so I am not naturally adaptable. Having chosen to work in the transportation I had to learn how to become adaptable and flexible through experience using my planning and organising skills to change my behaviour. What about you? I had coffee with my friend Gregory Grimes yesterday and I always appreciate hearing how he thinks about #freight and the #transportationindustry. One of the things we talked about was how short term thinking can impact a long term game.
