If you're in peer support, you know how tricky it can be to discuss challenging cases while keeping things confidential. It's like walking a tightrope, balancing the need for collaboration with the duty to protect privacy. Remember, it's all about smart strategies—like using pseudonyms, knowing legal limits, and choosing secure channels for those heart-to-heart professional chats. And when in doubt, always ask for consent. How do you ensure confidentiality when discussing cases?

Automating Care Communications // Quality of Care //Senior Living // Founder // Text Me: 812-205-9495
Senior Care Communities need to ensure that their communication process with family members is compliant and secure. Often, these communications take place over the phone, but how can we be sure that the person on the other end is who they say they are? And how can we ensure the privacy of sensitive information shared during these calls? It's important to have measures in place to verify the identity of callers. Lastly as a care provider how do we prove the communication took place? #SeniorCare #Compliance #CommunicationPrivacy

What about the OTHER 3 DATA BREACHES involving #NDIS participants data? ALL much worse than the OPTUS breaches yet we've barely heard a peep. The #OAIC investigation into HWL Ebsworth Lawyers (HWLE) and other breaches within the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) raises critical concerns about data protection, #privacy rights, and governmental accountability. The legal framework, including the Privacy Act 1988 and the Notifiable #Data Breaches scheme, imposes stringent obligations on entities like HWLE and the NDIA to safeguard personal data. However, the government's reluctance to provide further comments on the HWLE #investigation until its conclusion raises concerns about transparency and accountability. Such actions may undermine public trust in the government's commitment to addressing privacy breaches and holding organizations accountable. The breaches disproportionately affect disabled populations, exacerbating existing challenges and exposing them to an indefinite risk of identity theft and fraud. The NDIA's response showed no accountability and took no responsibility nore did it prioritize transparency, provide ongoing support to affected individuals, and ensure that accountability measures are upheld. Remedial actions should include comprehensive support for affected individuals, such as identity protection services and #financial compensation. Additionally, a thorough review of internal processes and security measures is necessary to prevent future breaches. Upholding transparency and accountability throughout the investigation process is essential to maintain public #trust in governmental institutions and #regulatory frameworks. These breaches underscore the urgent need for comprehensive measures to protect sensitive information and uphold privacy rights. It is imperative for the government and organizations like HWLE and the NDIA to prioritize transparency, accountability, and adherence to regulatory standards. Any attempts to circumvent accountability measures must be addressed promptly to ensure the integrity of the investigation and uphold public trust in the protection of privacy rights. #ndis #databreach #privacyrights #dataprotection Dr George Taleporos (GAICD, PhD) Sam Paior JP, MAICD Samantha Connor Tricia Malowney OAM DLI MAICD BA - Bill Shorten https://lnkd.in/gXvVtzRd

If a single point of failure leads to serious harm to vulnerable people, then as a business leader you cannot call that a "human error". Calling these issues a human error places unfair and excess responsibility on the staff (and it is simply not true). We have seen this type of privacy breach over-and-over again. There have been volumes of reports written about it. Use passwords, put in place document control, minimize information and use external email checks. Trust in institutions is at an all time low, and it will only get lower if practice doesn't improve.

Experienced CISO & MSP Owner | Elevating Cybersecurity Standards & Delivering Comprehensive IT Solutions for Businesses
29% of Law Firms reported experiencing a security breach in 2023, up from 27% in 2022 and 25% in 2021. In some instances, the firm is not sure if data was accessible after a breach (highlighting the need for a better understanding of data security and access controls). Another 19% of law firms surveyed reported not knowing if they experienced a data breach/security breach. This stat is even scarier. Is your law firm secure? Law firms are highly targeted due to their access to and storage of sensitive data. Lawyers and law firms of all sizes often don't understand how to secure and protect their client's data. Sometimes they don't even understand what data they have and where it is stored.
