Self-care in relationships is essential for maintaining healthy dynamics and individual well-being. It involves setting boundaries, communicating effectively, and prioritizing one's own needs while also considering those of the partner/friends/family. By practicing self-care, individuals can avoid burnout, resentment, and codependency, fostering a stronger sense of self and enhancing the quality of the relationship. It's about recognizing that taking care of oneself ultimately enables one to show up more fully and authentically in the relationship, contributing to its growth and longevity. https://lnkd.in/dDMZGJKX

Empowering executives and driven individuals to lead with kindness and compassion, fostering cohesive teams and remarkable outcomes.
The Power of Acknowledgment or Lack Thereof. Since 2018, I've been dedicated to promoting mental wellness through keynote addresses, programs, mindfulness courses, retreats, and trainings. A year ago and again recently I reached out to a prominent managing partner at a big law firm—a person renowned for their mentoring and achievements in family law. I sent a LinkedIn request to connect too. After checking out my profile on LinkedIn, they declined my invitation to connect, and my emails still remain unanswered. My initial intention was to congratulate them, applaud their efforts, and perhaps collaborate on initiatives that support our friends in the legal profession. However, their complete disregard for my attempts to connect isn’t about feeling ignored or disrespected. It’s about the broader impact of how those in power treat others. This individual has no idea about my journey, my story, or my triggers. I can accept rejection—a clear "no, I don’t want to speak to you." However, what I struggle with is the total disregard for another human being. Fortunately, I’ve been in the legal profession for 25 years, I know my worth and value but for younger lawyers, this may be the start of or exacerbation of imposter syndrome and feelings of “less than”. This indifference could lead to self-doubt, imposter syndrome and fear of reaching out when they need help. Ignoring someone who reaches out creates unnecessary mental turmoil. Triggers lead to beliefs, which lead to emotions then thoughts, decisions, and actions, ultimately shaping a reality based on how one is treated. I have no idea how this managing partner treats their team or employees, but such behavior can contribute to a toxic legal system. To all leaders and those in positions of power: I get it you are busy but please acknowledge those who reach out. A simple response can prevent someone from questioning their worth and spiraling into self-doubt. Let's work together to foster a more supportive and humane profession. Mental wellness begins with respect and acknowledgment. Every small gesture can make a significant difference. #MentalWellness #LeadershipMatters #RespectAndAcknowledge #SupportiveLeadership #MentalHealthAwareness #LegalProfession #HumanConnection #EmpathyInLeadership #WellbeingAtWork #PositiveWorkCulture

Self-prayer is Self-care Setting boundaries for self-care is critical for maintaining mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Setting proper boundaries will ensure self-care is sustainable. Setting boundaries involves identifying your needs, first. Know what drains you and what energizes you. Be honest about your limitations and capacities and let folks know when you've had enough! You know when it's time to take a step back and regroup. Articulate your boundaries to all you interact with personally and professionally. Seek support as needed — you must adhere to your boundaries. By putting these steps into practice, you will honor the healthiest version of yourself. (www.emarceljones.com)

I once gave a presentation on workplace self-care, and an attendee told me her eyes were opened by the concept itself. She told me that she'd never thought of self-care as something you did *at* work. She saw it as something she did in her off time, so that she could cope with how stressful work was, and get ready to get back in the ring again on Monday morning. The truth is, we spend WAY too much of our time working to ignore our mental health there. If we're spending 40+ hours a week miserable, we can't help but take that home with us at the end of the day. So what does professional self-care look like? It might be setting boundaries around your time or activities, or advocating for appropriate compensation. It can also look like making sure you have projects that are intellectually stimulating. Sometimes, it's making plans to leave a job or change course. Learn more on the Stella Nova blog! https://lnkd.in/gk-AV7uJ
