Looking to solve chaos and disorganization in your company? Here are three areas our team looks at when helping companies get their ducks in a row.
Chaos Management Specialist | Chief Duck Wrangler & Untangler of Knots | ADHD Executive Coach | CEO | The Focus Company
The first 3 sources of chaos I look for in a company: - How do they communicate internally? - How do they keep track of all the ‘stuff’ they need to do - i.e. tasks, follow-ups, major projects? - How are they managing documents & files, and can workers easily find what they need? Communications can be an incredible source of chaos, from how and where people share information, to the culture of response time. In a good system, comms is the engine that drives the company forward. When it’s done badly, it’s the greatest disruptor of growth and a root cause of chaos. It’s almost always the key factor for disorganized companies. Task management is tied to communication. What we want to see is ‘task specific communication’. This means the team is talking about projects right in the place where information about that task lives. There should be a central space to keep track of what needs to get done. If there isn't, then important information gets buried in an email chain or lost in a scrolling chat. This usually means the company drops tasks, loses track of important projects, and misses client deadlines. And finally files. Chaos loves poor file management. We can build the greatest system in the world, but if there’s no plan for storing, and then easily finding information, it’s broken from the start. What kinds of work chaos have you experienced? If you’re going through it right now, reach out. Sometimes we can solve the chaos in a fifteen minute brainstorm, free of charge.

I have a request for external lawyers: please be judicious when suggesting a call to discuss an issue. Sometimes this can be helpful but many times things can be solved async. I have seen examples in recent weeks from multiple firms to set up a conference call to discuss really minor or specific issues, where at the least the first step should be asynchronous fact finding and clarifying the work, question, next steps. I would like to see firms embracing collaborative asynchronous communication more e.g. the use of document sharing with commenting and video and voice messages. Yes, it's important that we keep this communication guarded to protect legal privilege, but we don't always need to jump on a call. This will free up time for all of us, and ensure that your advice (and follow up) is clear and getting heard by all the right players. Are there any external lawyers on here that are already embracing this? For more on this, please see our public handbook

Director of Marketing at Indigo Marketing Agency | Empowering Independent Financial Advisors to Connect with Ideal Clients and Grow Assets Under Management.
Attention, Financial Advisors: Collaboration with clients is key, but when does it turn into confusion? Too much back-and-forth can lead to unclear goals and misunderstandings. To avoid this, try these tips: ✅ Set clear expectations from the start. (You can automate by creating a custom welcome series of emails when a new client comes on board.) ✅ Establish regular check-ins to stay aligned. (In addition to reviews, advisors should be reaching out to their clients on a monthly basis with content that is relevant to them.) ✅ Use simple, jargon-free language. (Keep your blogs and emails easy to read and understand. Going too deep will most likely have clients saying, "I'll read that later" and never going back.) ✅ Listen actively and ask clarifying questions. (Survey your clients!) By striking the right balance between collaboration and clear communication, you can build strong, productive relationships with your clients. #FinancialAdvisors #ClientCollaboration #ClearCommunication
