This week in my #com231 class our topic of discussion was public relations. The goal of public relations is to create a positive image and perception of the organization, enhance its reputation, and foster goodwill. “Public relations is one of the most effective ways to build on marketing strategies and create a solid online reputation”. PR is becoming an essential strategy for companies nowadays especially with social media and how a company can be bad mouthed, true or not. This is why we see so many companies investing tremendous time and effort to stay on top of their PR strategies, which ultimately brings them larger returns with better ROI. This week in #COMM231 we talked about public relations. Public relations in communication involves managing and maintaining a positive image and reputation for individuals, organizations, or brands. It focuses on effectively communicating messages to the public through various channels, such as media relations, social media, and community engagement. The goal is to build trust, credibility, and favorable relationships with the target audience, stakeholders, and the public at large. It involves strategic planning, storytelling, crisis management, and fostering positive connections to shape public perception. I researched an article about public relations and media. This article talks about PR being more than just media coverage. “PR, therefore, is a holistic suite of different strategies working together to create and maintain the best possible image of your brand and reputation with critical audiences.”. https://lnkd.in/dhMcXFWX

I am a student at Drury in a Comm 231 class, this week we talked a lot about public relations. I found a super interesting article on a website called the The Business Journals. In this article it discusses how public relations is so much more than just media coverage. The article discusses how the best PR professionals continuously develop ways to communicate directly with their critical audiences without depending on the news media and earned media coverage. I believe that this article has a solid developed argument on how our society today relies too much on social media to communicate, and not just in our country but even in our local communities. I think this also pertains to large brands and corporations throughout our society. I believe that companies that personally put their selves out into communities to advertise have a much greater impact on consumers than just putting adds and commercials out there for people to watch. Anyways give this article a look this is a really interesting reading. https://lnkd.in/ehM86it9

THE "RELATIONS" ASPECT OF PUBLIC RELATIONS Few things in life function as stand-alones. Most require direct relationships with others to complement their efficacy, thus in other words dependency isn't always bad. Effective or essentially proactive public relations requires that the practitioner has a profound grasp of marketing and an undiluted appreciation of customer service. These two disciplines form the determinate hinges on which sound public relations pivots. Marketing knowledge equips the PR practitioner with an in-depth understanding of a brand and its attributes, culture, values, mission and vision on one hand; while excellent customer service skills allow for appreciation of human relationships on the other. These relationships are defined by beliefs, perceptions, emotions, expectations, surprises and even disappointments. When these factors are merged and carved into the PR practitioner's realm of thought and processing, their understanding and consequent implementation of public relations takes on a completely different profile. Most people tend to interpret public relations as getting stories published or covered as news. Not quite. How, for instance, do you engage with consumers in situations where there's no requirement for media coverage of that particular event? How can consumers or the public at large see the value in your brand and connect with it without use of media for publicity? How can your brand successfully live its attributes under the radar? The secret to the answers to these important questions lies in the word "relations", and that's where the focus must consistently be. Have a good one.

A strategic and well executed public relations program can be impactful to any organization and drive business goals, but efforts can be difficult to quantify. Unlike marketing in which you pay per lead, click, or meeting, public relations isn’t a one to one. It can influence target audiences, decision-makers and catalyze connections that motivate partnerships in the long-term. In the short-term, here are few helpful ways to understand whether your PR efforts are effective: https://bit.ly/3TT4ZFe

What's the Difference Between Public Relations and Publicity? 🌐 Public Relations is all about the big picture and is: • Strategically managing the relationships of a person, brand, or organization. • Working to cultivate a strong reputation, based on trust. • A comprehensive approach informed by long-term goals. 📣 Publicity is a subset of PR, that: • Aims for immediate visibility, often around an event, product, or initiative. • Involves leveraging media to share information or create “buzz." • Centers on short-term strategies to capture an audience’s attention. In many ways publicity is a series of sprints that contribute to the marathon of PR. However, public relations is exactly what its name suggests — a relationship with the public. As with any strong relationship, it takes time to build. It ebbs and flows throughout seasons of life. And it is nurtured through consistently showing up. This distinction is precisely what Storybeat Studio focuses on when supporting thought leaders with their PR strategy. We work together to identify long-term goals. Then create a plan to consistently engage with different types of media, allowing your reputation to grow and relationships to flourish. Q: Would you rather have good PR or good publicity, and what does that mean to YOU?
