Build more projects or earn more certifications? There's strong support for these learning strategies in the tech space. As a learner with limited time, you have to choose one or the other to pick up skills quickly. Or do you? I like to think that both strategies exist on a spectrum. With project-based learning: - you can start with building projects - look up what you don't know using documentation - seek help from communities to get your project past big obstacles After a few projects, you can easily pass a relevant certification exam. Granted that you want to pursue one by this point. With certification-based learning: - you consume content that builds out foundational knowledge - you apply new skills in short demo labs or exercises - you take an exam and get a certification After one certification, you have knowledge that you can apply to a project of your choosing. I like to call this project-based reinforcement. I like the structured learning provided by certifications. Though, I understand the value of building real projects. So, I do both. Start the learning journey with whatever has the least amount of barriers for you.

💫 The “15-minute rule” Take 15 minutes to solve the problem any way you can. If you don’t have an answer after 15 minutes, you must ask someone. It's important to have all the necessary information at hand when you ask for help. You may have already searched for answers in the codebase, old conversations, Slack, and internal documentation, but still couldn't find a solution. However, most of the time, you'll find valuable information that will be useful to the person who's helping you out. This can help both of you solve the problem more efficiently. Although it may be a good learning experience to struggle with a problem, there's no reward for spending hours on something someone else could have solved in minutes. The 15-minute rule encourages you to ask yourself if you're the best person to solve the problem. It teaches you to value your colleagues' time and not be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Striking a balance between independent problem-solving and seeking help is the best way to grow and learn.

During my participation in the Bangkit 2024 program, I encountered numerous opportunities to exercise adaptability, which proved to be instrumental in navigating the challenges and maximizing the benefits of the program. Here are five ways in which I demonstrated adaptability: Flexible Learning Approach: Embracing a flexible learning approach was crucial in adapting to the diverse range of topics and teaching styles presented in the Bangkit program. As each class introduced new concepts and technologies, I remained open-minded and receptive to different learning methods, including self-study, group discussions, and hands-on projects. This flexibility enabled me to effectively absorb and apply the knowledge gained, regardless of the subject matter or teaching format. Adapting to Team Dynamics: Collaboration with peers in group projects provided an opportunity to adapt to varying team dynamics and communication styles. Recognizing the strengths and weaknesses of team members allowed me to adjust my approach accordingly, fostering effective teamwork and synergy. Whether leading a project or contributing as a team member, I remained adaptable and responsive to the evolving needs of the group, ensuring successful project outcomes. Navigating Technical Challenges: Throughout the program, I encountered technical challenges and obstacles that required adaptability and problem-solving skills. From troubleshooting coding errors to mastering new software tools, I approached each challenge with a resilient mindset, seeking alternative solutions and leveraging available resources such as online tutorials and mentor guidance. By remaining adaptable in the face of technical setbacks, I was able to overcome obstacles and continue progressing in my learning journey. Adjusting to Schedule Changes: The dynamic nature of the Bangkit program necessitated adaptability in managing time and adjusting to schedule changes. Whether accommodating last-minute class rescheduling or balancing project deadlines with personal commitments, I remained flexible and resourceful in optimizing my time management strategies. Adapting to unforeseen changes with resilience and composure allowed me to maintain productivity and meet program requirements effectively. In summary, my experience in the Bangkit 2024 program provided numerous opportunities to cultivate adaptability in various aspects of learning, teamwork, problem-solving, time management, and personal development. By embracing flexibility, resilience, and a growth mindset, I was able to navigate challenges effectively and maximize the value of the program's offerings.

🚀 Embrace the Journey: Making Technical Tools Exciting! 🚀 Hey everyone! 👋 Have you ever experienced feeling stuck and boring when you learn technical tools? Let's talk about something we've all experienced at some point in our professional journey – the challenge of diving into technical tools. 💻 While the learning curve might seem steep and the process a bit tedious, remember this: "Learning technical tools can be boring, but the magic happens when you find the fun in the functionality!" 🌟 Here are a few tips to spice up your technical learning adventure (these approaches at least work for me): 1️⃣ Spaced Repetition Method: Leverage the power of spaced repetition to optimize your learning schedule. This method helps reinforce your memory by strategically spacing out review sessions. When I learn something new, I would like to revisit the things that I learned on the next day, and come back on the next two days, and so on until it sticks in your brain🔄. But this method is a flexible technique, so you can adjust based on your preferences and learning style. 2️⃣ Real-world Applications: Connect the dots between theory and real-world applications. Understand how the tools you're learning contribute to solving actual problems. It adds purpose and makes the journey more exciting🔍. Usually, I will look for an end-to-end project because it often gives you a real-world scenario so you can see a glimpse of the application from what you have learned. 3️⃣ Collaborative Learning: Team up with colleagues or join online communities to share your experiences and challenges. Learning becomes much more enjoyable when it's a collective effort. I found LinkedIn community is very supportive and generous to share their experience and feedback.🤝 4️⃣ Visualize Your Progress: Create a visual roadmap of your learning journey. Seeing how far you've come can be incredibly motivating and help you stay on track 🗺️. The key of this aprroach is to share your journey online because it will help you to be more accountable. 5️⃣ Break it Down: Instead of tackling everything at once, break down the learning process into manageable chunks. It's less overwhelming, and progress is more tangible. 🧩 Remember, the journey to mastering technical tools is a marathon, not a sprint. It's okay to find it boring at times, but it's essential to find the joy in the challenge. 💪 And I have to give you a disclaimer that this is the approach that at least works for me, but if you have another method that works for you, let me know in the comments! Let's turn the "boring" into "brilliant" together. 🚀 #techlearning #professionaldevelopment

During my journey in Bangkit 2024, I’ve managed to adjust myself so that I can walk along any situations. When initiating this journey, I need to absorb information in English and also to express or deliver them in English. This situation forced me to learn and adapt in order to comprehend all the information well. It seemed to be a barrier at first, but turned out to be the forges I need to improve myself. I also met with so many kinds of people. This is also affects my interaction towards them in general. I achieved new things by learning the materials, because although it is new, it helps me understand the technology. I am not used to do scheduling, but now I am getting used to it. Google Calendar helps me with schedules. It helps me to set my daily targets and achievements. I don’t often take notes when studying, but during Bangkit, I am now having pages of notes only for a course. The program provides me the instructor-led training sessions where the cohorts can ask questions about the material. This session is the chance for the cohort to get the clear picture of a material and also to validate their understanding. I learned that I need to ask about the lesson, otherwise I might ended up not understanding it. There are rewards active cohorts during the session, by asking question. So I think that this session make the cohorts adapt, so they can grow the good learning habits. Bangkit also provide the cohorts with mentors. I can ask for help during our learning. Even some of the mentors conduct a study session, so the cohorts can learn more. Although Bangkit has provided all the learning resources, I usually look for some materials from the interne that aligned with the lessons from the courses. It gives me more coverage on the materials. Being in Bangkit also means that I need to suit myself in a professional community. I met with so many talented friends that might already jumped into the field years ago. It boost myself to learn more. It also encourage me to leverage all the provided learning resources in an effective and efficient way, so that I can obtain many insights and experiences during the program. Thing I concern the most is about the timing. The program has already created the timeline, so cohorts can refer to the timeline for their progress. The resources provisioned also makes me adjust my way of working like finishing tasks using Google Forms or Classroom. All the things I experienced during the process also changed my way of thinking. I grow the way to keep my mind clear when being overwhelmed by the situations. The first thing that I need to manage when facing some learning situations is my own thinking. By doing this way, I have won the initial stage, before getting into the assignment. It is kind of adaptation that focuses on the way of thinking, so that I can tackle the situation without being stressed out from the very beginning. #lifeAtBangkit #Bangkit2024

Student | Cohort at Bangkit Academy 2023 By Google, GoTo, Traveloka - Cloud Computing Learning Path | Tech Enthusiast | Information System
Let me introduce myself, Deri Fitriono, here are 5 ways of adapting that I did while following the program Bangkit 2023 Batch 2: 1. Way Of Interacting In this program, I had the opportunity to meet individuals from various backgrounds, including different education and cultures. This arose for me to learn how to interact with individuals who have these differences. As a beginner, I consider it important to actively communicate with classmates and other group. I start by listening attentively to other people's opinions. Additionally, I found that the Discord server used in this platform was very helpful in facilitating the sharing of experiences, not only with fellow participants, but also with our mentors. The Discord server has been a great place to collaborate, share ideas, and build strong relationships throughout the program. 2. Way of Achieving To be honest, when I first joined, I felt pressured by the high expectations of achievement, especially when looking at the timeline which seemed dense and long. Initially, this situation was a little confusing, especially since I was a beginner in this cloud computing program. However, to overcome this, I decided to set small targets that I could achieve one by one. I realized that by focusing on these small accomplishments, I could reduce the stress I was experiencing. Additionally, I try to see this learning journey as an opportunity to grow and learn without feeling rushed. This approach allows me to continue to grow and overcome challenges that may arise during the program. 3. Way of Learning As a cohort, I was very aware of the importance of listening carefully when the instructor explained the material. I always try to note down important points during class and repeat the material after class. In addition, I attempted to deepen my understanding by seeking out additional material outside the program. One example is by looking for video tutorials online that explain concepts that I find difficult. This approach ensures that I truly understand the material and am ready to face any challenges that may arise. 4. Way of Working To provide maximum contribution, I am always committed to completing assignments within the specified time limits. I have also learned the importance of allocating a minimum of 8 hours per day for my learning journey as per the recommendations of the bangkit team. By determining these study hours, I can create a new habit that helps me stay focused. 5. Way of Thinking I am actively practicing critical thinking while in the learning process, but I often do it by myself, asking questions internally and seeking answers through reading. This approach helps me to delve deeper into the concepts I am studying. I also attempt to solve problems independently before eventually seeking assistance from instructors or peers. This not only hones my critical thinking skills but also provides opportunities for learning from experience. #lifeAtBangkit #Bangkit2023
