When I first came to Advanced MedTech on 1 July, 2014, the CEO and COO of the predecessor company represented to the Board that there was no talent in the company... They said that there were no leaders capable of taking over from them. The company faced significant challenges at the time. Sales had been declining for more than 15 years, and the company was unprofitable. The situation could not be more different today, a decade later. The team has not just turned the company around, they have propelled it to unprecedented growth, profitability, and returns. The progress is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and innovation embodied in each employee of Advanced MedTech(AMTH). ALL credit for the turnaround belongs to the team. Every day, our employees live and breathe our core values: - Urgency in Collaboration - Customercentric Innovation - Authentic Leadership Spending time with our 1,500 employees has inspired me over these years. We are united in a collective purpose to deliver life-changing technologies to patients and healthcare professionals that we serve. Yau Chung WONG, who takes over from me on 1 October, 2024, is a leader whom we have groomed from within. I've always been inspired by leaders who combine their vision with action, and one such individual is Dr. Jonathan Milner. His journey from a background in Molecular Genetics to becoming the Founder of abcam plc is a testament to the power of passion and entrepreneurship in the world of life sciences. Recently, Dr. Milner penned a letter to the Abcam Board of Directors, urging transparency and accountability in the strategic review process. As a 6.14% shareholder who openly supports a sale of the company at a full and fair price, his commitment to shareholder value is evident. In the letter, he references the Board's previous announcement about the "Review of Strategic Alternatives" and highlights his temporary suspension of a campaign to give the Board the space needed for the review. He even offered to re-join the Board, bringing his experience and expertise to the table, but this offer was not acted upon. Now, as we approach the update on progress against the review process scheduled for August 31, 2023, Dr. Milner is calling for transparency and a commitment to delivering results. He reminds us that if accountability isn't met, he's prepared to resume his campaign in the Autumn. Dr. Milner's story is a reminder that leadership isn't just about leading from the front; it's about actively participating, making tough decisions, and advocating for what's right. It's a story that resonates with anyone who values transparency, accountability, and the pursuit of excellence.
