BBC News on Instagram: "“I was almost offended in some scenes.” In August 1945, Oppenheimer’s nuclear bomb killed an estimated 140,000 people in Hiroshima and at least 74,000 people in Nagasaki. Today, the biopic about Oppenheimer’s life was released in Japan. Financial Times Series FT Moral Money on our Energy and Sustainability future is a must watch. Wonderfully edited Film Documentaries, excellent in communication (with prestigious English and British usual input on this), but also good graphical small explanatory sketches. Nuclear Fusion Power will with all probalility be part of Humanity's Sustainable Energy mix of the future. There are some Engineering, commercial feasibility and Supply Chain challenges to overcome yet, but this is an area where challenges are almost always opportunities in disguise. It is important that the dangers and harm of atomic bomb development and testing are addressed for all those who suffer consequences. I hope information such as this film brings more public consciousness and pressure to aid all those still suffering from.the effects. As with the Oppenheimer release in Japan and criticisms of what it did not show, I think there is a flaw in the discussion. That film was about one area of the events of the creation of the atomic bomb. And in its presentation it certainly did portray the complications and flaws and reticence and even horror of individuals involved. It was very real, and did not glorify the bomb. It's intent was not to show the entire story of the atomic bomb. The stories of the downwinders, the Hibakusha, and others who suffered are other parts of the complete history and are being and should be addressed, presented, shared in and of themselves. They require series of films, books, television shows, what have you. Not to be attached to a single couple-hour film that would hardly do them justice. And I think it is unreasonable to suggest such. I hope Lois Lipman's film receives wider distribution, viewership, and concern for its great value. #nonukes

Great coverage in Washingtonian Magazine of Lois Lipman's incredible film 'First We Bombed New Mexico', screened to a full-house at American University this week as part of the DC Environmental Film Festival. Very proud to have supported Lois and Tina Cordova with this screening at my alma mater. "Manuel Monge, who also attended the screening, said he felt inspired to reach out to Congress after watching the documentary. 'I watched Oppenheimer twice, and I saw this movie once, and I found it so much more meaningful and authentic,' he said. 'I didn’t know anything about this, but it’s a story that seems to happen again and again in the United States.'"

This is why frontliners are important! This is why I am currently working on a research on stress and safety performance in the transportation of class 7 dangerous goods. This is why I think there should be more research on the new vision on safety, even in nuclear safety. Want to join me on my safety journey?

A manipulated video or audio recording convincingly replaces a person's appearance or voice with another, often creating a realistic but fabricated depiction. The term gained notoriety when videos emerged swapping celebrities' faces onto adult performers. The potential danger lies in the misuse of deepfakes, such as creating a false video of a world leader initiating a catastrophic event, like pressing a nuclear button, which could trigger widespread panic and geopolitical turmoil. Preventing such scenarios requires vigilant detection and mitigation of deceptive media. 𝐶𝑙𝑖𝑐𝑘 ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑛 𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑒: https://lnkd.in/gbby2ezR

"“The New Corporation: The Unfortunately Necessary Sequel” is an essential watch for anyone concerned about the future of democracy and the unchecked power of corporations. It serves as a clarion call to remain vigilant, informed, and active in the fight against corporate overreach. In a world where the line between corporate and public interests is increasingly blurred, this documentary is a crucial reminder of the stakes at hand and the importance of safeguarding democratic principles. It challenges viewers to reflect on their roles within these systems and consider how they can contribute to a more equitable and just society. By doing so, the film informs and galvanizes action, making it a powerful tool for education and advocacy. This call to action is perhaps the film’s most important legacy, urging viewers to move beyond passive consumption and towards active engagement in the defense of democracy."
