LONG OVERDUE! THIS SHOULD BE DISPLAYED NON-STOP TO EVERY CAMPUS THAT HAS BEEN OVERTAKEN BY “FREE PALESTINE” MALEVOLENT OR IGNORANT SCREAMERS. I have long thought that such “students” as well as their faculty and administrators should be shown the horrific 43 or so minute video (absolutely no cuts or edits) that has been shown only to the chosen few. Let the haters and deniers see what Hamas and many Palestinians did. Too gross or graphic you say? Too offensive, violent and vulgar, you say? Well yes damn it, that is part of the equation. In a war against radical Islamic terrorism, nice guys and western sensibilities finish last. And believe me, we are in fact in a war against radical Islamic terrorism. Today the Middle East. And today already, much of western & northern Europe, the UK and Canada. Tomorrow… The USA.
An anonymous group has funded and constructed a giant screen with loudspeakers outside the UCLA Encampments showing footage of October 7 on loop. Absolutely brilliant.

Exploring the Impact of Program 287 with Congressman In the video transcription, a congressman is asked if he thinks the 287 program is good and if he will work to expand it. The congressman responds by stating that he believes the program is effective when executed properly as a force multiplier for enforcement efforts. Despite being pressed for a clear answer, the congressman does not give a definitive yes or no. The conversation highlights the difficulty in getting a straightforward response from the congressman on the topic. #viralvideo #YouTube #Congressman #287program #enforcementefforts #forcemultiplier #question #expansion #straightanswer #vizard

I really get a kick out of taking calls on air from strangers on law questions. This was with my friend Gene Rossi on "Laura Coates Live" last week, in a segment on the NY Trump trial. It was TV, so we got the questions a few minutes in advance so the team could make graphics. [NOTE: If you want to see your life flash before your eyes, try taking calls on live radio where all you know in advance is "Vinny from Ronkonkoma is on the line and he is NOT PLEASED with something you said on air three hours ago."] Stuff like this is a good way to get out of the bubble; even very smart people don't live and breathe in the weeds of the things you work on every day and might find obvious. Question: when is a time you had to explain a concept to an audience that was outside of your professional "bubble" and how did you do pull it off?

🕵♀️ People-first usability specialist making sure that systems, processes and communications really do make life easier, for people from all walks of life. #Accessibility #Diversity #DigitalSkills 🧩
Could you vote without sight? For the blind and those who struggle to read or process text, voting alone without someone seeing your choices is very difficult. This device has been shown in testing to be 90% effective at making independent voting in secret possible for these groups. See comments for a link to further RNIB information about this and other legally required adjustments at polling stations. ID: A preview image for a link to a video introducing the "McGonagle Reader Audio Voting System". The image shows a voting device that consists of a transparent sheet of plastic with yellow plastic tabs and black circular buttons lined up against the items on a blank ballot paper, with a pencil at the top. The text "Pakflatt" appears in a white box in the top right corner. The image uses bold, white text on a black background. #GeneralElection

Thank you to Dr Rhys Farthing, Global Research Director at Reset Tech for her insightful remarks in Parliament today. As she mentioned in her speech last week at ChildFund's 'Online Safety for Every Child' event at Parliament House, "Striking the balance between young people’s right to access the digital world and their right to protection from harm requires a lot from all of us, particularly from tech and government. We can’t reasonably expect young people to educate or protect themselves when we live in a world that has an inherently risky digital architecture. But we can add safety rails to the digital architecture itself and safeguard the systems that technology deploys to build a safer digital world.” The digital safety of children requires an approach that doesn’t just keep them safe, but one that preserves their digital rights. Media community: we need you. At this event Channel 4 last week it was great to hear the ever-changing legislation on protest discussed thoughtfully as part of a further conversation with Chris Packham about whether it's 'time to break the law.' What CSO's call 'closing civil society space' is something I've worked on for many years as a lawyer before helping set up Parents For Future UK and it's hugely alarming both to see the rapid erosion of rights to protest in the UK and to realise how few people know what's happening or question why. 'The Law' is still perceived by so many as an unassailable and largely unchanging bastion of all that is right, and the English (and Welsh) Legal System as a gold standard for delivering justice. Yet UK legislation has changed rapidly over the past 5 years in ways that the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has said specifically targets environmental protestors. I raised a question about the debate last week about the role of fossil fuel companies in lobbying for legislative change - we like to pretend that kind of partisan lobbying couldn't happen here but that's far from true. The courts are also steadily removing defences environmental protestors rely on, eroding some of the key tenets of trial by jury and in some cases barring defendants from even mentioning climate change in court. Yet the right to peaceful protest is - as the Chair of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights has noted - a cornerstone of a healthy democracy. The media is in many cases complicit in this erosion of rights, continuing to depict protestors in ways that help justify legislative change. We need more thoughtful debates like the one at Channel 4 last week that aren't just for the climate community - we need all the mainstream media channels and new media to help a much wider audience understand what's happening to the rights that underpin our democracy. This event also underlined for me the power of humour in helping us all engage with climate content in a way that doesn't feel heavy - thank you Matthew Winning for the best set of climate slides I've seen in a long time.
Last week, Parents For Future joined the Channel 4 interactive debate, Just How Do We Unf*ck The Planet? In a stroke of genius, the evening started with a clever brand of comedy from Matthew Winning to unite the room. Chris Packham delivered a flawless overview on legal obedience, and how this is likely to dissolve as it fails to give us the order we need for a stable society. It was a broad-ranging debate, touching on fossil fuel lobbying and its impact on human rights, economic prosperity alongside climate change solutions, and the language around degrowth. We saw input from social scientists, lobbyists, MPs, along with PFF's Charlotte Howell and Rowan Ryrie. This debate is one of many that are so needed. Not all of them have to be in the public domain (although we'd love to see many more); they can also happen in our daily lives. This is why we continue to expand our work on courageous conversations, to equip people to have these important conversations. Until we get the socio-political alignment and urgent action needed to turn this crisis around, we have to keep questioning and talking.

🚗 📵 Starting in 2024, Illinois is putting safety first with a new law aimed at reducing distractions on the road. Video meetings, streaming, or browsing social media while driving will be prohibited, marking a significant step towards safer roads for everyone. There's an exception to the rule: you can still use video functions if they're hands-free or voice-activated, or if they can be activated or terminated with a single button push. This law is designed to keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel, without cutting you off from essential communications. Stay informed and stay safe! Let's embrace these changes together for a safer Illinois. #IllinoisLaw #SafeDriving #NoVideoWhileDriving #2024Laws #BRELaw
