It is so important to share your own story to build community, to build bridges and to connect to people. Thanks to Maggie for reminding us of that. Our second episode is live. In this one we're reminded you don't have to be good at the start, but you'll never be good if you never start. Thanks to Nikki Coble, Danny Prussman, Chris Luecke, Acadia Pharmaceuticals Inc., and of course, Maren Lena DeSantis for making it possible to accomplish what sometimes can seem impossible. 🚀#mdpisymmetry Excited to share an article with you. "Identifying the Level of Symmetrization of Reaction Time According to Manual Lateralization between Team Sports Athletes, Individual Sports Athletes, and Non-Athletes" 🔸https://lnkd.in/gPwGpBbz 🔹Authors: Dana Badau, Adela Badau, Marko Joksimović, Catalin Octavian Manescu, Dan Cristian Manescu, Corina Claudia Dinciu, Iulius Radulian Margarit, Virgil Tudor, Ana Maria Mujea, Adriana Neofit and Dragos Florin Teodor 🔸Abstract: The present study aimed to investigate the impact of practicing sports activities on manual skills, focused on reaction time depending on manual laterality. The objectives of the study were to identify the differences in improving simple, optional, and cognitive reaction times in the manual executions of student athletes who practice team sports involving the manual handling of the ball (volleyball, basketball, handball) in comparison with student athletes who practice individual sports and with non-athletic students; to identify the differences regarding the reaction time of the right- and left-handed executions depending on the manual lateralization of the subjects (right- and left-handedness) between the three experimental samples: team sports group (TSG), individual sports group (ISG), and the group of non-athletes (NAG) through the use of computer tests... #left- and right-handedness #simple reaction time #choice reaction time

Attention athletes and sports professionals! As of 01/01/2022, local steroid injections into joints are now prohibited during competition. However, athletes can still apply for therapeutic use of exception when the last dose is administered within seven days of competition via oral, IV, or rectal routine. Additionally, when administered by intramuscular injection, athletes can apply for therapeutic use of exception within eight weeks of competition. It's important to note that athletes requiring intraarticular injection of a steroid are only required to apply for therapeutic use of exception when there is doping control in competition or they are required to complete an adverse analytical finding from when glucocorticoid is detected. Stay informed and stay on top of your game. For more information, check out the references below. References: - Sportintegrity.gov.au. (2020). Exciting Developments in Concussion Detection! 🌟 Team GB cyclists at the Paris Olympics will have their saliva analyzed to test for possible concussions, thanks to a pioneering project by British Cycling and Marker Diagnostics. By comparing saliva biomarkers, doctors can determine if a cyclist has suffered a concussion and guide their safe return to riding. This innovative approach, previously trialed in contact sports like rugby, marks the first time a cycling federation has introduced such a test. At the Chuck Noll Foundation, we continue to fund cutting-edge research on biomarkers, like the work of Drs. Amelia Versace and Anthony Kontos on saliva biomarkers in adolescents. These advancements are crucial in enhancing safety and performance in sports. Let's keep pushing the boundaries of brain injury research! 🧠💪 Read the article: 🔗https://loom.ly/g8scCfA #BrainInjuryResearch #SportsMedicine #ConcussionAwareness #InnovationInMedicine

📃Scientific paper: High frequencies (HF) repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) increase motor coordination performances in volleyball players Abstract: INTRODUCTION: It is widely demonstrated that high frequency (HF) repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has facilitative effects and is therefore capable to inducing changes in motor responses. One of the most investigated areas is the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) as it plays a special executive attention role in actively preserving access to stimulus representations and objectives in environments with plenty of distraction such as those of team sports. Volleyball is a team sport in which the attention and coordination components are essential for achieving performance. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate if HF rTMS at DLPFC in volleyball players can improve homolateral motor coordination and cortical excitability. RESULTS: This study was a double-blinded (participant and evaluator) matched-pair experimental design. Twenty right-handed female volleyball players were recruited for the study and were randomly assigned either the active rTMS (n = 10) or the sham stimulation group (n = 10). The stimulation was performed in one session with 10 Hz, 80% of the resting motor threshold (RMT) of the right first dorsal interosseous muscle, 5 s of stimulation, and 15 s of rest, for a total of 1500 pulses. Before and after stimulation, the coordination and the cortical excitability were evaluated. The significant finding of this paper was that HF-rTMS of the DLPFC improved performance in terms of the homolateral interlimb coordination, with a si...
