Since we started Skynopy, we constantly asked ourselves how we can improve things: services 📡 , products 📻 , processes 🔄 ... and (why not), social events ? 🍸 👨🚀 👩🚀 Next week, 2000 space industry people are gathering in Paris for #WSBW24 organised by Novaspace (Merger of Euroconsult & SpaceTec Partners) (congratulations to Emeline Bardoux and her team 💪 ) 🇫🇷 What could Skynopy offer to them as a true Parisian experience, being in our hometown, that would be different from standard reception with standard cocktails in standard places ? 🎳 We decided to gather people around a very unique Parisian square (kept secret for now) and around a typical French game: PETANQUE 💥 That is already quite original, is that all ? 🎒 What a start to the new season! Skynopy officially won the 🌟 Rising Star 🌟 award at the #LTSF2024 organized by La Tribune Toulouse. Antonin Hirsch and I felt very surprised and thankful for this award. 🏆 A huge thank you to the jury, La Tribune, and everyone who supported us along the way. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Skynopy team: Paul, Victor, Stefano, Alexandre, Sree, Guillaume ... 🎉 We also want to extend our congratulations to our fellow nominees, Antoine Fourcade (Sirius Space Services), Clément Galic (Unseenlabs), and Peter Weiss (Spartan Space). "Broaden your opportunity surface area" 🍀🍀 I like this motto, especially when it comes to objects in orbit 🛰. I feel like it is a little what happened recently for us ⤵️ 🔄 After having co-organised events with SpaceFounders (and Space Elevator), having been a coach of the first cohorts, I am now proud to announce that Skynopy has been selected to join the best European space start-up program SpaceFounders 🇪🇺 Europe has an incredible ambition for space and we are glad to take our adventure to this new level only 10months after its creation. 📡 Le réveil du segment sol spatial. Après s'être concentré sur les lanceurs 🚀 , puis les satellites 🛰 , il était urgent d'adresser le dernier pilier du spatial. On vous explique pourquoi 👇 📈 La démocratisation de l'orbite basse 1️⃣ Au cours des 15 dernières années, le prix d'un lancement de satellite a été divisé par 10 et les fusées de SpaceX partent en moyenne tous les 3 jours. 3 jours ! Le premier pilier du spatial que sont les lanceurs, n'est plus un facteur limitant 2️⃣ En même temps, la fabrication des satellites s'est sérialisée. J'en connais un volet puisque j'ai commencé ma carrière chez Eutelsat OneWeb et Airbus Defence and Space ( 👋 Nicolas, Arnaud, Francois). Notre objectif, atteint, était de pouvoir produire plus de 2 satellites par jour. Pendant ce temps là, le reste des industriels ont également opéré le même changement. D'autres acteurs, ont également changé le modèle économique proposant de faire du satellite-as-a-service 💡. Le deuxième pilier que sont les satellites, n'était plus non plus un facteur limitant pour les missions spatiales 🤷♂️ Mais une fois que le satellite est en orbite, comment redescendre les données et communiquer ? C'est là qu'est le problème. C'est là que Skynopy apporte une solution ✨ 🙏 Merci aux ★ Les Assises du NewSpace - Saison 3 ★ pour votre confiance, de nous avoir proposé de représenter cet évènement dans l'émission Tech & Co de l'inénarrable François Sorel. Two years ago, I received an email from European Space Agency - ESA saying that I was a finalist in the astronaut selection process 👨🚀. At that moment 🕑, I had no idea how the coming months of my life would unfold. 🌔 Held every 15 years, this selection process chose 5 astronauts from 23,000 applicants. I had a 1 in 8 chance of being the one who would go. Maybe go to the moon, actually. 1 in 8. After almost two years of psychotechnical 🧠, psychological, medical tests, and incredible encounters (Arnaud, Raphaël, Katherine, Slawosz, Sara), it was the final sprint. The suspense lasted until November 2022. Spoiler Alert 🚨: I wasn’t selected. 📖 Reflecting on the experience and moving on Barely consoled by the touching messages from Thomas Pesquet or Jean-François Clervoy (Officiel) and others, I went walking in Italy for a week to reflect on this experience and to grieve this dream. “If you can’t think, walk; if you think too much, walk; if you think badly, walk again,” said Jean Giono. 🥾 “What to do now?” This was the question that kept coming up on the Tuscan trails. Where could I turn my energy to? I reached Firenze, then returned to France without having completely answered this question. But knowing I was entering a new phase of my life. 👉 Getting back on track and moving forward I returned to my position at Loft Orbital 🛰️, a provider of shared satellites, currently changing the market. Deep down, my true desire has always been to make space simple and accessible to everyone. European space remained behind in this new race, despite the amazing talents that we had. 💡 And one day, during a discussion of my trusted colleague Antonin Hirsch, we asked ourselves: “Why not change painful processes? Why not start something new?” 📡 On August 31, 2023, we had a final call together and decided to team up to launch Skynopy, to offer a shared ground antennas service to satellite operators. ✨ Less than 10 months later, we are happy to announce: 🚀 The formation of an incredible, ambitious, curious, and excellent team: Paul Victor, Stefano, Sree, ... 🚀 Our first contracts: HEMERIA Centre National d'Études Spatiales LEOBLUE ... 🚀 Our record-breaking fundraising of 3.1M€ euros in less than three weeks: a huge thank you for your trust to Yohan & Jimmy from , Jeanne and the entire team at Kima Ventures, Baptiste @ Nicolas at Better Angle, Thibaud Elziere and all of our other investors (Yohann, Benoit, Paul, Pauline, Maxime, Nicolas, Julien, Matthieu, Nicolas, Fabrice,...) 🚀 Promising partnerships to be soon announced ... 🚀 And a SpaceNews article covering that news, thanks Jason Rainbow for this highlight (link in comments below 👇) --- 🙏 And a huge thank to Adrien Lelièvre for this spotlight in Les Echos (link in the comments 👇)
