Malaysia and Singapore have joined forces to launch a special economic zone in Johor, in another step towards deeper economic integration and cross-border collaboration in the ASEAN region. This partnership is more than just a handshake – it’s about creating 20,000 skilled jobs over five years, with industries like manufacturing, healthcare, and energy in focus. Throw in tax perks and a state-of-the-art Rapid Transit System to move 10,000 passengers per hour, and you’ve got a recipe for real progress. But the real story here is the spirit of cooperation. Singapore PM Lawrence Wong emphasised the importance of ASEAN working together to stay competitive on the global stage. It’s an encouraging sign of how South East Asian states in particular value regional collaboration which is inspiring confidence in investors and domestic talent alike. For anyone invested in the future of borderless talent, this is one to watch. ASEAN is showing how connecting economies is crucial, and how facilitating cross-border talent increases value for both parties. #ASEAN #CrossBorderTalent #EconomicIntegration #Singapore #Malaysia

Strengthening cross-strait relations With Melissa Lee, Lo Seng Chai, Muhamad Noor, Ramesh Devadasan and Malvin Singh from the Singapore High Comission in Malaysia during the Japan National Day reception at JW Marriot, Kuala Lumpur on 20 February 2023. The two neighbors enjoy unique, robust (although occasionally testy) bilateral ties, forged by their shared history and profound economic dependence and influences on one another. They have come a long way from the turbulent creation of the city-state after being expelled from Malaysia in 1965 to build a near inseparable, mutually beneficial interdependence anchored on strong political, economic, cultural and familial relations. Singapore is the largest foreign investor in Malaysia and they are each other's second largest trading partner. In a world fraught with conflicts and tension among neighboring countries, Malaysia-Singapore bilateral ties stand out like a shining beacon that serves as a great example of what can be achieved when nations focus on setting aside differences and working together to fulfill common aspirations, interests and objectives.

Prabowo's Indonesia and the future of India-Indonesia strategic ties - Observer Research Foundation "Under Prabowo, a more robust iteration of Indonesia’s independent and active (bebas dan aktif) foreign policy and non-aligned stance in responding to regional and international dynamics is being expected. However, there will be some major shifts from the previous Jokowi era in Indonesia’s foreign policy approach under Prabowo. What will these changes be and will they help in pushing forward the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership? How can India use these shifts/ changes to its advantage in terms of strengthening its partnership with the biggest country in Southeast Asia and also probably the most dominant voice within the ASEAN?" https://lnkd.in/gB9fcimp #indonesia #india #southeastasia #asean #indopacific

This is gonna be interesting to know how Southeast Asians are aware of being Southeast Asians: not just citizens of their respective countries, or members of their ethnic or religious groups.
