GOLD BEACH
Gold Beach is 1st of 2, of D-Day beaches to be led by the British and was situated between Port-en-Bessin and Ver-sur-Mer the central most area of the D-Day invasion.
The objectives of Gold were to secure a beachhead, capture Arromanches to link with American troops at Omaha and to capture Bayeux to link up with Canadian troops from Juno.
Similar to Omaha, Gold beach was split into 2 components, an ariel and naval bombardment to clear German defences and an Infantry landing to capture the beach. In contrast to Omaha, the bombardments were highly effective in wiping out most of the German defences. The navel bombardments from HMS Ajax and HMS Argonaut proved to be extremely effectively providing pinpoint accuracy to take out 3 of the 4 artillery emplacements.
Infantry landing commenced nearly an hour after the American landings due to different tides. Rough seas made it tricky for Infantry landing craft, resulting in 20 of them being sunk or damaged by mines, however this did not slow British troops much as within an hour they had secured beach exits to push further inland and by days end they had completed their objective.

For military families, life can be unpredictable. From managing daily expenses to planning for emergencies, having a little extra flexibility goes a long way. That’s where gift cards, especially Visa, Supermarket or Store cards.
These cards allow families to purchase essentials like groceries, clothing, or household items—whatever they need most at the moment.
When a loved one is deployed, handling finances can be an added stress. Let’s not limit our gratitude to specific holidays or events. Supporting military families should be a year-round effort—a simple yet meaningful way to show appreciation for their service.

🌟 The Student Veteran Community is Answering the Call 🌟
The response from the Student Veteran community has been nothing short of inspiring, and together, we’re committed to continuing this critical work.
Here’s What We’re Doing:
1️⃣ Supporting the Warrior Heritage Foundation:
The Warrior Heritage Foundation, the official nonprofit of the LA Department of Military and Veteran Affairs, is partnering with the Red Cross to convert Bob Hope Hall (Patriotic Hall) into a 250-bed shelter for military-connected families displaced by the fires.
This effort is personal for us. Members of the Warrior Heritage Foundation are personal friends of ours through the Student Veterans of America (SVA) network. They are putting in tireless effort to serve our community, and this is our chance to directly support real people we know making an incredible impact.
2️⃣ Organizing Cleanup Efforts:
Through Recycle For Veterans (RFV), we’re preparing to organize a veteran-led cleanup team to help with environmental restoration once it’s safe to enter the affected areas.
How You Can Help:
💸 Financial Donations:
Donations to the Warrior Heritage Foundation’s LA Fire Relief Fund will provide resources for housing, meals, and essential supplies for families in need. Every contribution makes a difference. Use the QR code in the flyer or click the link below to donate directly:

Military Special Operation Family Collaborative’s (MSOFC) founding work revealed concerning challenges impacting America’s warfighting families. A mere 13% of families from Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps special operations units felt their basic needs were met, while only 18% of spouses felt able to pursue personal goals. Alarmingly, service members were delaying essential healthcare for an average of 13+ years.
The intensity of service in special ops resonates profoundly throughout the entire SOF family. MSOFC raises awareness to SOF pitfalls and emphasizes the development of healthy foundations that can fortify special operations families. Our programs foster awareness, teach SOF families to identify signs of stress, and take proactive measures to establish healthy checkpoints and flourish.
Military Special Operation Family Collaborative’s mission is imperative. Will you support it and help push free family programs and resources into our active and veteran community? Donate and Support SOF: https://lnkd.in/em6VuKQW
