What beautiful sentiments about a fulfilling career in aviation.
For one last time… This is your Captain speaking… As we descended into EWR on my final approach, memories of my entire 34-year career floated across the clouds like butterflies. I saw the smiles of millions of happy passengers, thousands of loving reunions, hundreds of safe landings, and the face of my favorite passenger I’ve ever flown with—the one who sacrificed so much for me to get to this moment—my Momma. A close friend and retired pilot advised me to soak it all in and take things slow. Calm as Captains do, my heart began to swell as I saw the water cannon salute and held back what felt like water cannons behind my eyes. Then the wheels kissed the ground—a perfect landing. Now everyone’s asking me, “What’s next?” And I tell them, “This is only just the beginning of what I believe is the best chapter of my life.” I plan to spend my days inspiring young people to follow their dreams by turning them into goals, shattering glass ceilings, and defying all odds. I’ll be calling in my friends from all around the world to share their experiences to empower the next generation of trailblazers who are destined for greatness. If they can see it, they can be it. Today, I may be retired from flying airplanes at United Airlines, but in the words of one of the G.O.A.T.s (Greatest of All Time), Kobe Bryant, “Job’s not finished.” It’s been a pleasure to be your Captain and an absolute honor to fly the friendly skies 🛬 📸 photo credit: Brianna Cabassa

✈️✈️ - 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗻. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱. I was flying home this weekend from my best friend’s wedding in North Carolina, 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘣𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺, and I was impressed with what I experienced on 𝘿𝙚𝙡𝙩𝙖 𝘼𝙞𝙧𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨. As a business owner I am continually observing how others "do business." As I was prepping for an upcoming training called, 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘵 𝘣𝘺 𝘋𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯: 𝘋𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘦𝘢𝘮 & 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘔𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘴, on my three hour and 40 minute flight from Atlanta to Phoenix, I overheard something really beautiful. The Delta flight attendant approached a passenger in front of me and said the following, "Thank you Mr. (can't remember his name) for being an elite status member with Delta Airlines. We not only appreciate your business, but know we are grateful for you and want you to know you are seen and you are appreciated." - 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝗮𝗮𝗮𝘁?!! Honestly, 𝘐 𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐 𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘵 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 in that moment for simply hearing this interaction. 💙💙 I was not only impressed with what the flight attendant said, but I also appreciated that an organization as large as Delta Airlines, still ensures these small, intentional interactions take place in their BIG business. As you all know, I talk a lot on how small, yet intentional interactions make for big impact and how every interaction we have is an opportunity to build, maintain, or break down relationships and ultimately the culture of our organization. Thus, my closing question for you all, is what intentional action will you do today, tomorrow, this week to build the culture of your organization? And finally, as a reminder, 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱. - 😁💙 #deltaairlines #flightcrew #buildingcommunity #culture #gratitude #leadership #weinspirecommunity

Over the past few years, Bombardier has embarked on a journey of transformation, difficult at times, yet eventually repositioning ourselves successfully as a company focused on business aviation and Defense. Through meticulous design, Bombardier is forecasting its state-of-the-art next chapter through the next evolution of our brand. First off, our new logo introduces the Mach symbol, which reflects our leading portfolio of aircraft, our innovative spirit , and strong heritage from J-A Bombardier himself. The sprocket is long gone, and the old BOMBARDIER logo as well, however the innovation lives on... Featuring the silhouette of an aircraft breaking the sound barrier (look at the negative space), the forward-facing shape evokes air smoothly flowing over a Bombardier-designed wing, crafted by a team that lives ahead of the curve to set the highest standards (especially in aerodynamics and performance!). Deeply rooted in the work we do every day, our new purpose: Enabling leaders who shape the world... It speaks to how we operate at the altitude of our customers and prospects, build relationships with them and acknowledge their discernment. Let's redefine excellence together as we collaborate even more across functions and silos to solve problems and create the best solutions, and encourage our teams to keep elevating and seek out new perspectives. As we go through this stage of our journey, this new branding encourages each employe to be you. To be heard. We can now share our true self with our colleagues and open up discussions for everyone to contribute to the conversation, to create an environment where people feel comfortable to speak up, share their opinions and be themselves. It's now the right time to unleash our ambitions and demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset, expanding our skills and knowledge through training or new opportunities. Like some of the most refined, complex, and sought-after luxury watches, our new brand will help drive profitability through our ability to charge a premium for our best-in-class products, and due to the perceived value of their brand. We have shown to be less likely to benefit from price premiums compared to our competitors, so I'm excited that this new brand aims to grow our brand awareness and equity over time.
This week marks the start of a new era at BOMBARDIER! Our beautiful new brand identity reflects our success as a world-class business aviation company and celebrates our heritage, our talented people and our innovative spirit. We showed this video to our employees for the first time this week in Montreal, and their cheers when our new logo was revealed is something I will always remember. Bombardier’s visual identity is now truly at the level of our performance. Have a look for yourselves! https://lnkd.in/eD--Tgwg #HeartMeetsMastery #Bombardier

Check out Firstup's newest customer testimonial from JetBlue! Firstup helps JetBlue deliver a targeted and hyper-personalized employee experience for its more than 25,000 team members: "One of the functionalities that's most useful to us is the ability to target communications. We can send certain communications just to pilots, or in-flight tech ops, or target by location. There's a way to slice and dice the content so it's appropriate for whoever is reading it." https://lnkd.in/dYwp3sty
