A month-long celebration at O.C. Tanner . Celebrating the #brilliant minds and the warm hearts that make us a #great place to be. Celebrating Employee Appreciation Day (well.. turned out to be a month 😊). From giving away warm hoodies to activities that included Premier League matches, Out of office treasure hunts and arcade games – it was #fun, fostered deep #connections and deepened the sense of #community. Special shout outs to our Tech Leaders Steve Fairbanks, Jonathan Olson, Michael Graybeal and Christian Rigdon for being a sport at all events. Thank you Ruda Alhat, Srilakshmi Kamana and Arpita P. for a job well done. Let’s not stop here. I encourage you to celebrate your colleagues every day, in every way. Do you have inside jokes with your team that you associate with celebratory memories? 👋 This weekend, between numerous birthdays, work anniversaries, and MLK Jr Day, Mitch came out to jump on my waters, coffees, and any other beverages consumed to celebrate. Why? It started with a late day of corporate team bonding during our 2021 annual internal conference for iCG Pay That trip to South Seas we collaborated in planning sessions, listened to one another’s department achievements, goals, and blockers, and played in a high energy scavenger hunt that turned colleagues into friendships. (Some highlights of the game made our YouTube channel if you want to see the comments. 😉) Telling this little person’s story makes me smile because it draws memories when our team started gaining momentum in revenue, clients, and team members. At this event, we celebrated our first year of three in a row as an #Inc5000 Fastest Growing Company. 🙌 In all the chaos of COVID, we were blessed to add to our core team who had laid the foundation of an encouraging and supportive company culture. They added good people who supported our values to #workhardplayhard and #leadbyserving 🌸 Going forward, they became the “OG”, a mix of about 20ish stateside a few global professionals, eagerly bonded to make work fun while serving businesses with the #digital solutions we truly believe will empower their success in the payment revolution. Mitch wasn’t at the party then. Actually, he was a figment of our imagination 😂 …So was Ryan, Brad, and a handful of other notable names of little people who give the OG team a giggle when they see them sitting on a beverage during corporate meet ups and conferences. A “had to be there” kind of moment. Even while the next year’s strategic hires, “OG to the second power,” and every new team member afterwards may not get the joke, they buy in to the celebratory #companyculture. Because of the foundation of good people with good values, we’ve not only been able to meet some business goals together but we’ve had fun along the way, too. Our team buys in to celebrating. This year, the groundwork is laid to enhance the technology and grow exponentially to give another opportunity to break out the little people. Mitch will come along for the adventure and many more with the #estesclan. We have much to be thankful for and celebrate. Whatever your journey…Don’t you have moments to celebrate, too?

This is one of my favorite times of the year – our annual company meeting. Not only is it nice to lay out our goals for the year, but it’s just great seeing everyone in person. Offering work-from-home flexibility is definitely a perk – one we’re grateful to be able to offer at JMARK – but coming together and being surrounded by people who care about what they do ... It’s a different kind of energy. Especially when we’re able to celebrate the hard work everyone put in the year prior. I can’t tell you enough about how proud I am of our team. If you work in technology, you know how fast things change. That just when you feel confident with a certain product or software, everything shifts. But with every change and every disruption, this team rose to the challenge. Every. Single. Time. — For any leader who struggles with engagement or who is scratching their head as to why people keep leaving, here’s my advice: Celebrate your team. Champion them. Reward them. It’s such a simple act, but it yields massive results. Because we need to see our team members as WHOLE humans. To not only value them for the work and effort they consistently put in but to celebrate and reward those efforts as well. 2023 was a big year for us. Probably the biggest we’ve had yet. But if I know my team as well as I think I do – 2024 aims to be even better.

We all want to have the perfect "balance" between life and work, right? We scroll here on LinkedIn and think most people have the "perfect job" that provides it. But in reality, those who have found harmony have "blended" work and life in a way that creates health and wholeness all around them. As we enjoy the festive spirit of the holiday season, a time often filled with extraordinary displays of talent and creativity, I'm reminded of the 'Superpowers' each of us possesses. This brings to mind the eighth element of the Soulstice Team Operating System: Superpowers. In my 18 years as a serial entrepreneur, I've come to realize that every team member brings their own unique 'Superpowers' to the table. These are not just skills or talents; they are the special attributes that make each person invaluable to the team. 1. Identifying Individual Superpowers: The first step is recognizing these unique strengths. Whether it's a knack for problem-solving, a flair for creativity, or an exceptional way with people, identifying these superpowers can transform the way a team operates. 2. Leveraging Strengths for Team Success: Once identified, the next step is to leverage these superpowers for the benefit of the team. It's about aligning tasks and responsibilities with individual strengths, ensuring that everyone is working in their zone of genius. 3. Celebrating Diversity of Talents: The holiday season, with its array of talents and festivities, is a perfect reminder of the power of diversity. In a team, celebrating these diverse superpowers fosters an environment of appreciation and inclusivity. 4. Encouraging Development and Growth: Recognizing a team member's superpowers is also about encouraging their development. Providing opportunities for growth and learning ensures that these strengths are continually nurtured and expanded. 5. Creating a Culture of Empowerment: When team members are encouraged to use their superpowers, it creates a culture of empowerment. It's a way of showing trust and confidence in their abilities, which in turn boosts morale and engagement. As we celebrate this holiday season and look towards the new year, let's remember to recognize and harness the superpowers within our teams. Having immersed myself in the corporate world for over a decade, I emphasize the importance of reciprocity in fostering loyalty. Employees should not sacrifice growth opportunities without receiving what they truly deserve. It's cool to stick around, but it's not cool when it's a one-way deal. We recently held a course for #FairwayLeaders on how to create a sense of belonging within your team. Some key takeaways were as follows. Disengagement comes in many shapes and forms. And its costs include lost productivity, impact on team morale, and monetary expenses due to employee turnover. Use these costs to motivate you to address disengaged teammates early, in an effort to reignite their motivation and commitment. Team-building activities help create connection and relieve stress. Pick activities that cater to the interests of your group, such as volunteering together, attending a sporting event, having a team competition, or hosting a team lunch. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are key components to feeling like you belong at work. Use inclusive language, celebrate differences, listen and learn.
