Blizzard Internship apps are open!? It's happening! I'm applying for game engineering and game design, wish me luck! --- I want to once more thank all of the Activision Blizzard King folks who have provided some mental relief through the Early Careers workshops. So, THANK YOU, Veronica Estrada-Edeh, M.Ed, T Cash, Onochie Akah, Sheriden Jackson, Erin Kelly, and anyone else I missed! I am doing my best to factor in all of the advice you've shared with us. This is a dream multiple decades in the works, and I can't fathom wanting to work with anyone else on the planet but the teams at #Diablo, #Warcraft, and #Starcraft. So...save a spot for me!!!! Here is a very simplified breakdown of what Blizzard games have meant to my life: 🦂 Starcraft... ... was my babysitter over many summer weeks through middle school while staying with my mom. She'd be at work every day while my siblings and I were left to entertain ourselves in an unfamiliar town, in an unfamiliar house, which was not stocked for the entertainment of children. My mom's PC had a couple of games to choose from, either StarCraft... or... ... ... Drug Lord... I chose to learn to play StarCraft, despite it giving me anxiety. I even still remember some of the cheats 20+ years later (black sheep wall, medieval man, food for thought, operation cwal). 😈 Diablo II... ... is one of those games that holds such a big place in my heart. It was my first online gaming experience. It was an obsession throughout middle and high school. It would consume me after school until bedtime every night. Our family computer was very mediocre, so I lagged almost always, but I LOVED IT. I had to learn to spam "HELP" as fast as I could, and often attribute Diablo II as the reason why I can type! 👹👨 World of Warcraft... ... was practically the only game I played from the launch of WotLK until MoP, then returning for a time during the BFA era. WoW was a getaway for me in a time when life had me down, and when I'd sometimes feel anxiety in-game, I'd spend many late nights maxing out fishing at Dalaran fountain. I loved collecting pets, mounts, and being an Azeroth photographer. WoW was more than a game for me. I found myself deeply entranced in the lore and even spend my commutes listening to lore videos. The story aspect of the Blizzard games has always tickled my love for creating worlds, characters, and stories. It was during this time, when life had me down, that I'd decided to move to California to pursue game development. My inspiration was born from a dream to work for Blizzard, the company whose games have endlessly inspired me through all of these years. Now, as I write this from the condo my wife and I purchased in Fullerton, CA, I realize it's been exactly 10 years since I moved to California, on October 1st, 2013. This cannot be merely a coincidence but a sign from the old lady universe telling me to push just a little bit longer! I am ready for you, Blizzard; I hope you are ready for me. - Josh✌️

Hey LinkedIn! Soooo....how do I say this? I guess the best way is to just say this as it is🤟 I have resigned from my position of QA Tester at Ubisoft. I still have 17 days left in my notice period. This might sound silly, but this photo right here is a huge milestone for me. Before I ever got into the industry, I had a picture in my head of how I thought my career would go, as I'm sure many others also do. This was my list, which I thought would logically happen in this order: ⬜ Become a Game Designer ⬜ Get my name in the credits ⬜ Years later, Become a Producer/Creative Director ⬜ after many years, become a teacher in games ⬜ Maybe start my own company, maybe I then proceeded to be enamored by the limitless potential of mobile games, and ended up proceeding to work the next decade of my life on projects that either never shipped or just never had credits, for the most part. (something many mobile games still don't do, but that's another post for another day) 11+ years have given me this wisdom: Life is chaos, and things happen in a weird order. Thankfully, I've always been a big believer in the Universe's plan. I always try to embrace the chaos as it comes. As chaos would have it, this is how things somehow worked out in order: ✅ Become a Game Designer ✅ Start my own Company (RIP TMS 🤎🤍) ✅ Become a Teacher in Games ✅ Become a Producer and finally, 11 and a half years later: ✅ Get my Name in the Credits I've somehow managed to get that 22-year old's "Big Dreamer" checklist of mine all checked off in the strangest order imaginable, but I'm grateful for every lesson I've learned, and every chaotic failure, stumble, or massive brick wall I've encountered along the way. Thank you to all of my awesome colleagues on R6M! We made this happen, together! Let's keep it going for a long time to come! Chaos is a funny thing, but I'll keep believing in what the Universe is trying to tell me, because a decade later, I've got a new checklist, and I can't wait to see how wrong I am about how this one will play out, another 10 years from now. 😉 Embrace the Chaos, everyone.
