We have 150 million radiology scans dating back 30+ years. There’s no reason to believe that AI won’t be able to use this data to build muscle to analyze future scans. This could help diagnose ongoing patient problems better than any radiologist could, at a fraction of the cost. The sooner companies implement AI, the better.
“Better than any radiologist could”, ask a radiologist first. ML (not AI) does not work in edge cases it hasn’t seen before. All humans are unique. Needs understanding of underlying anatomy of a scan.
Take a look at one of our portfolio companies, Proscia, who just got FDA approval in the pathology space for these kinds of things. AI is going to change the world of medicine in ways we can not imagine. And save lives along the way.
Leveraging AI to analyze such a vast dataset could indeed transform diagnostic accuracy and efficiency.
