Today marks the 10th anniversary of the installation of the 200 kWp solar power plant at Suri Shoes Pvt Ltd.Kanpur Installed in July 2014 at a cost of Rs. 65 per watt ( about $1 per watt back then with 0% VAT), it fulfilled the owner's long-cherished wish to reduce the factory's carbon footprint. Since its commissioning, the plant has operated with minimal failures and was expanded to 325 kW in 2022. Over the years, it has generated electricity worth almost Rs. 2 crore ( about 2.5 hundred thousand dollars ) and benefited from an 80% + 20% depreciation claim in its first year.
