Acquisitions 101 (First of all, business buyers don't carry cash with them... picture for illustrative purposes only 😉) There are several ways to acquire a business, but one popular approach is called an asset sale or asset purchase (depending on which party you are). In an asset sale, the owner selectively sells specific assets of the business, which can include equipment, inventory, intellectual property, customer lists, or real estate.
