What does community mean to you? 🤔 This weekend, I had the privilege of attending the Oktoberfest event hosted by Charter Senior Living. The atmosphere was electric, the food was delicious, and the company was even better. A heartfelt thank you to Kamini Cotton for the invitation! Supporting our seniors is not just a duty; it’s a joy. It reminds us of the rich tapestry of experiences and wisdom they bring to our lives. Each conversation, each smile shared, is a reminder of the importance of connection and community. During the event, I met some incredible new friends—Tanya Haswell and Gretchen Hahn. Our laughter echoed through the festivities, reinforcing the idea that relationships are the heart of any community. It’s these connections that create a sense of belonging, not just for our seniors but for all of us. As we look ahead to the launch of the new location and more events, I’m reminded of the impact we can have when we come together. Supporting one another, sharing experiences, and celebrating life is what truly enriches our communities. So, here’s a thought: How can we all contribute to building stronger connections in our communities? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Drop a comment below with your ideas. If you found this post insightful, please give it a like and share it with your network. Let’s spread the message of community and connection! #CommunityMatters #SupportSeniors #Connection

***Join Us For Our Next Event*** Cultural Clashes with Our Faith & Work: Hard Work Thursday, May 16 7:00-8:00am (Doors Open at 6:45...grab your coffee early!) Tall Rabbit Coffee + Community, 2001 Calhoun Street Historically, many Americans have viewed hard work as a key to success in the workplace. Indeed, many well-developed societies have upheld that the cultural value of hard work is a moral virtue. A common belief is that hard work leads to success, wealth, promotions, status, and much more. Thus, hard work results in a better job, and a better job results in a better career. But, at what point is our emphasis on hard work too much? Intense dedication to hard work often brings long hours, overcommitments, workaholic tendencies, and other challenges to many people. Hard work does not always equate to good works. Join Dr. Larry Rottmeyer for this discussion on gaining new perspectives of the value of hard work and practical steps to reframe your own approach to your work. What else you can expect from the event: - Free coffee and snacks - Connect with other believers who want their work to matter and want to make a difference - Learn more about NEI CFW and other ways to connect and grow - Free parking available in the lot just east of the building - enter off Williams Street Learn more and register for free at neicfw.org/events/.

Goodwill Industries of NEI is DOMINATING community connection. Last month we added in my sister station WOWO News Talk, to help spread education on how our 8 local Goodwill stores are impacting our community. We came up with the strategy to connect our listeners to Goodwill through asking them to nominate individuals they know who are an example of “goodwill” and actions to those around them, and thus “Goodwill In Action” was born ✨We just chose our winner for the month of December, Amy, but man was it tough. There were so many nominations from listeners that highlighted community members that are going above and beyond to make this a better place to live work and play! It was tough choosing a winner for December, but read what the person who nominated her had to say, and you’ll see why Amy won. Creating these campaigns that actually mean something and connect others, is what makes this career the best! If you would like to nominate someone in our community who exemplifies Goodwill In Action, text GOODWILL to 45364 and fill out the form through the link! Nomination: “Amy spends a lot of time talking to and spending time with my son who is disabled. He doesn’t have many friends and she has made him a good friend and she has incorporated him into going places and doing things to make him feel special. In this process she has done the same thing for another special needs boy giving him opportunities to do things and go places in the community that these boys would not be able to do without her. There simply are not enough people who put significant importance on our special needs children to be out doing things in the community.” #morethanradio #makingadifference #goodwillinaction #goodwillindustriesofnei #goodwill #fortwayne #federatedmedia #retail #community Kevin Morse, ADAC, SHRM-CP, CE
