The Journey of Recycled Materials ♻️ Ever wondered what happens to your recyclables after they leave the curb? It’s an incredible journey! Recycled materials go through sorting, processing, and manufacturing stages to become new products. From soda cans turning into bicycles to plastic bottles becoming clothing, recycling is the ultimate transformation. Next time you recycle, think about the second life you're giving to these materials!

Day five, our last Green tip of this week!🍃 This week we will give not one, but five tips about optimal use of plastics in the lab. During the week, we will move down on the R ladder of circularity. The higher on the ladder, the better for the environment! 🪜 Earlier this week, we talked about Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, and Repurpose. The last step on the R ladder is Recycle. ♻ Recycle Keep in mind that most recycling is actually downcycling in practice. This means that the downcycled products decrease in value. This week we highlighted the steps of the R ladder. Do you have questions or ideas? Please let us know!

Project Nightfall made a thought-provoking video on plastic recycling. Some of the facts highlighted can be depressing.. 1) we eat about 5g of microplastics individually...every week! 2) % of plastic produced in history that are recycled...9% 3) "recycling" symbols on plastic actually tell us what plastics they are made of...and only category 1 and 2 are easier to recycle i.e. PETE and HDPE, the rest are difficult to recycle or cannot be recycled. While some of the claims like no.2 and no.3 should be viewed with more context i.e. % of plastic produced being recycled is increasing and there are more recycling infrastructure to deal with categories 3-5 plastics, the issue with plastic production and pollution is still a serious one. There have been some developments such as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) to shift the responsibility for the end-of-life management of products, including plastic packaging, on the producers, importers, and brand owners; and innovations in material recovery; investment in recycling infrastructure. While recycling plays an important role in circular economy, it is imperative to acknowledge that it occupies a much lower position in the hierarchy of circular economy principles. More emphasis should be placed in prevention, reduction, re-design and reuse for plastic products, as we shift towards a more sustainable and circular approach in resource management. Ultimately, the responsibility for addressing plastic pollution extends beyond individual consumers to encompass corporations and producers. Collective efforts to consume plastic products responsibly and advocate for sustainable practices are essential in driving meaningful change and fostering a more conscientious approach to plastic usage.

𝙇𝙚𝙩'𝙨 𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙖𝙜𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙨! ♻ Everyone knows by now that plastic litter is harmful to the environment. At Niverplast, we want to close the loop on used plastic and maximize the amount of recycled plastic. With our machines and plastic bags, we provide a closed loop recycling process. 🤗 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻? A closed loop recycling process means that plastic waste is: ♻ collected ♻ recycled ♻ and used to make new bags! We are committed to helping our partners make their businesses more sustainable. Use the bags and reuse them. Again. And again. And again. 🚀 Collecting, recycling and reusing plastic waste. That's what we call a closed loop! 🙌 See more: https://lnkd.in/gqBx4ehK

Cycle instead of one-way street! ♻️🌿 Did you know that SOLVERDE is not only sustainable in its contents, but also in its packaging? - Thanks to recyclate. But what exactly is recyclate? Disposed plastic waste is processed into granulate that can be used to create new packaging, making recyclate a secondary raw material and a sustainable solution 🔹 It is recycled plastic from post-industrial waste 🔹 It reduces the production of new plastic ✅ We give plastic a second life ✅ Conserve valuable resources ✅ Reduce plastic waste in the environment This is how we close the cycle together 🌍✨ Cleanliness can be so sustainable, can't it? 😉

https://lnkd.in/eyfh9BXF As a team we are consistently challenged on the recycling of already recycled material. So we have a news/blog to bring our viewpoint and facts to the table. One of the questions we ask is if the product isn't branded and had a campaign behind it or marketing slogan. How would you know if it was recycled material? How many items have you re recycled without knowing? Worthwhile questions? Have a read. #plastic #plastics #blog #news #recycling

Did you know that e-waste makes up around 70% of toxic waste? Worse still, only 20% of it is currently formally recycled. That's where Lenovo steps in with our circular economy. We're committed to creating new products with old stuff - like post-industrial recycled content (PIC) plastics, post-consumer recycled content (PCC) plastics, and closed-loop post-consumer recycled plastics (CL-PCR). It's pretty cool, particularly when combined with new materials like ocean-bound plastics (OBP) and recycled metals. We know that a circular economy only works when we design new things from old stuff, saving natural resources and also diverting material from landfills.

Today is World Recycling Day! So it's all about sustainability and recycling resources. And we at adelmo are at the forefront of this. How is that possible? Our stand-up pouches are made of plastic, aren't they? No problem! We have developed a mono-material for our bags that can be easily recycled. ♻ And that's not the only advantage in terms of protecting our environment: supposedly more environmentally friendly alternatives such as glass consume much more energy during production, break more easily and consume many times more fuel during transport, as they are much heavier and bulkier than stand-up pouches. In this respect, plastic is often the more sustainable solution. What's more, you can order as many pouches from us as you actually need. You don't have to stockpile supplies that you will never need. This ensures that together we avoid overproduction that would end up in the bin.

Think you're recycling right? Think again. Recycling isn't just about tossing plastics into a bin. It's a deeply flawed system if that's where the story ends. We're doing it wrong. The real journey begins when we see beyond the bin. Single-use plastics? A convenience we pay for with environmental degradation. The true value of plastic lies not in its single use and disposal but in its potential for reuse and repurposing. Every plastic bottle, every packaging material has a story far beyond its initial use. By redefining the recycling landscape, we're not just saving the planet. We're unlocking a world of innovation, sustainability, and economic opportunity. Let's challenge the status quo. Let's invest in systems that prioritize reuse and support materials that can be truly recycled. The change starts with us. Are you ready to look beyond the bin and redefine what recycling means? Share your thoughts and let's spark a revolution. Together, we can do this.

In light of Global Recycling Day last week, let’s discuss why you should prioritise using recycled materials.🌍 ♻️By choosing products which contain a high recycled content, you can immediately eradicate the significant risks that waste can present to the natural environment. ♻️You can also create a sustained demand for recycled materials, which drives innovation and encourages others to recycle materials which could once have been deemed “un-recyclable”. At Duraproducts, we have pioneered the use of recycled plastics in our manufacturing processes, reducing our environmental impact and promoting a circular economy.
