Building Remixing Reality: A system to make useful tools and fun games in AR, featuring your favorite brands
#YankeeStadium and great games go together like #Baseball and Hot Dogs. Many legends play on this field and now some legends fly above it. A thing about #AugmentedReality first gaming is that it should happen where people are already having fun. We started with parks, specifically #CentralPark which is already magical. Next came living rooms and sports bars, basically any indoor place where people congregate and look forward to sharing a good time. The next logical place for us was stadiums. It was awesome to see #StarWars spaceships flying in and around the outfield. #Baseball inherently has down time, so having fun AR games to play inside #MLB stadiums during games makes perfect sense to us. Plus, since it's multiplayer by default, you get the play along with your fellow fans! If you know anyone who works in stadium operations especially the New York Yankees one, please do an intro. We'd love to chat with them to bring these experiences to every stadium in the league. (Aaron Ludwig looking at you to connect me with Ilana Avergun, Chris Kirschner, Justin Shackil and others. LOL) The biggest problem as a developer is stadium rules won't allow you to bring in a laptop, so game makers like me have to code blind. Hence why I need to make some friendly connections to use the park for coding when it's empty! :) We do have plans to bring level-editor tooling for users to make their own levels, so we included rough versions of those into this build so we could quasi-configure the game on device while at the stadium. (See the beer run clip at the end of the video to see the tooling make the enemies a bit too big!) Yes, you read that correctly. We're literally making #AR #VideoGames on our #iPhone in real time while playing said game inside a stadium where a baseball game is happening!! Ain't technology is amazing? LOL We'll do a more detailed post of that later, I can't blow your mind too much. 😎 It's been awhile since we posted an update, but that's because we're up to big things many of which happen behind the scenes (looking for funding, setting up backend tooling for saving data, adding stadium support, system architecture and code to support in-game tooling, etc).
