Complacency: The Silent Opponent Last night, I had the privilege of watching an electrifying match between City and Feyenoord, joined by some fantastic Dutch colleagues. It was a night to remember—for all the wrong reasons. City were dominant, cruising at 3-0 with just 15 minutes left on the clock. The game seemed over. But then... Feyenoord reminded us all of a hard truth: the game is never over until the final whistle. In those last 15 minutes, City conceded 3 goals. The match ended 3-3—a capitulation that shocked everyone. This wasn’t just a footballing collapse; it was a lesson in mindset and complacency. When success feels certain, we often let our guard down. Focus wanes, urgency slips, and before you know it, the tide has turned. Whether in sport, business, or life, this moment serves as a powerful reminder: never assume the job is done until it truly is. The ability to stay switched on, regardless of the circumstances, is what separates the good from the great. Credit to Feyenoord for showing resilience and seizing their moment.
