On July 18, 2024, Governor Newsom signed another bill – Assembly Bill 1870 (“AB 1870”) – which amends section 3550 of the California Labor Code to also provide that employers must advise employees of their right to consult with legal counsel regarding their rights under workers’ compensations laws. Section 3550 requires that every employer that is subject to California’s #Workers’ compensation laws must post, and keep posted, in a conspicuous location that is frequented by employees, and where the notice may be easily read by employees during the hours of the workday, a notice that provides employees with information regarding workers’ compensation coverage and benefits. The notice must be posted in both English and Spanish where there are Spanish-speaking employees.

💔 Tragic Incident: Recently, we were shaken by a tragic incident where an employee took the life of his CEO over unpaid salaries. This is an unimaginable act that casts a dark shadow over our professional integrity and societal values. We totally agree with the fact that whenever employees go unpaid for months, financial instability can prevent them from meeting basic needs, leading to stress and anxiety. This situation not only affects your emotional and mental well-being but also places additional pressure from your family, who depend on you for financial stability. The constant worry and feeling of helplessness in fulfilling their expectations can be overwhelming and deeply distressing. But, ❌ Violence is NEVER an Option No matter the circumstances, resorting to violence is not a solution. It irreparably harms lives, families, and the professional landscape. So, it would be more better for the employees to, 🔍 Research Before Joining Employees need to conduct thorough research on a company’s culture, financial health, and employee treatment before joining. Understanding an organization’s environment can prevent unexpected hardships. ⚖️ Legal Recourse is Available We have legal systems in place to address grievances: - Labor Courts: They exist to handle disputes over unpaid salaries and wrongful dismissals. - Industry Associations: Often provide mediation services and legal advice. - Human Resources: Open dialogue with HR can resolve many issues before they escalate. 📢 Alternative Solutions 1. Union Support: If available, unions can advocate for employee rights and ensure fair treatment. 2. Professional Mediation: Seek third-party mediation for dispute resolution. 3. Public Awareness: Raise awareness through professional networks about unethical practices to prevent future incidents.
