🌟 Celebrating Juneteenth: A Reflection on Freedom and Unity 🌟 As we honor this pivotal moment in history it's essential to reflect on the broader implications of freedom and unity. Juneteenth stands as a powerful reminder of the long and ongoing struggle for true equality and justice. The same and/or similar elite powers that once sought control through slavery continue to wield power through separation and division tactics, thriving on creating problems that pit us against each other, ensuring we never unite to address the root causes of our struggles. True progress comes from recognizing and dismantling these divisive tactics. When we come together, knocking down the barriers of race, class, and ideology, we harness a collective power to end wars, combat racism, and halt the destruction of human lives. Juneteenth is not just a day to remember the past; it is a call to action for the present and future. Let us honor the legacy of those who fought for freedom by continuing their work—by striving for a world where unity prevails over division, and love conquers hate. Together, we can build a future where every individual is truly free and empowered. 🌍✊🏾❤️ #Juneteenth #Freedom #Unity #EndRacism #HumanRights #TogetherWeCan

When is Enough, Enough? It takes real courage to speak up, especially under the global spotlight. I've been given this platform, and it's worthless if I stay silent. I won't stand by quietly in the face of suffering. Silence? It just strengthens those who cause harm. Here's where I take a stand: when injustice — whether due to race, religion, or politics — starts eroding our humanity, we must confront it head-on. Raising my voice is challenging, but it's more than a choice; it's a moral obligation. It's about giving voice to the voiceless, offering hope where there's despair. This isn't about choosing the easy way; it's about integrity, staying true to what we believe in. It's this responsibility that truly defines us. I STAND FOR HUMANITY.

As we commemorate Juneteenth, we celebrate not just a moment in history but a continuing movement toward freedom and equity. While many of us are committed to the work of liberation, it's crucial to confront and address our own assimilations into systems that perpetuate injustice. My research and work focus on dismantling these very systems of oppression, revealing their influence through the language and rhetoric we use daily. This Juneteenth, let's take a bold step toward real change. Let it begin within each of us. Disrupt the status quo, starting from within, and let your actions and words reflect your dedication to truth and justice. Let's engage, question, and transform. Together, we can shape a world that truly honors the spirit of Juneteenth. #Juneteenth #SocialJustice #AuthenticityInAction #DismantleOppression #RestorativeJustice #TransformativeJustice #ReclaimYourLife #ReclaimYourSacredSelf

What is Juneteenth, and why is it important? - Karlos K. Hill and Soraya Field Fiorio Today, we honor Juneteenth, a pivotal day in American history. On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the end of slavery, marking a monumental step toward freedom for African Americans. This day, now known as Juneteenth, commemorates when the last enslaved people in the United States were informed of their liberation over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. Juneteenth is not just a celebration of emancipation but a powerful reminder of the African American community's resilience, strength, and enduring spirit. It's a day to reflect on the struggles and triumphs of those who fought for freedom and those who continue to fight for equality and justice. Juneteenth is a day of reflection, education, and celebration. Let's honor this historic day by committing to ongoing efforts toward equality and justice for all. #Juneteenth #FreedomDay #Equality #BlackHistory #DiversityAndInclusion #SocialJustice #CommunityEmpowerment https://lnkd.in/gTbNNVHV

"It’s not just contentment or even a greater sense of aliveness, though Gay would say both are wonderful outcomes. He wants us to consider an even more profound possibility, that 'joy is an ember for wild and unboundaried solidarity.' And who knows what such communal care and witnessing can bring into our lives, and into our heartbroken world?" Read our book review of Ross Gay's "Inciting Joy" here: https://bit.ly/48gBYHp

Desmond Tutu's words echo a profound truth: "My humanity is bound up in yours, for we can only be human together." These words remind us that our humanity is not solitary; it's a shared tapestry where every thread is intertwined with another. In a world often marked by divisions, it's vital to remember that our true strength lies in our ability to stand together. We can only fully embrace our humanity when we extend compassion, empathy, and understanding to one another. Being human means acknowledging our interconnectedness, celebrating our diversity, and working collectively to overcome challenges. It means reaching out a hand to lift others up when they stumble and offering a kind word or gesture to brighten someone's day. In this journey of shared humanity, let's nurture a world where kindness is our common language and respect is our guiding principle. Let's be the architects of a more inclusive, compassionate future where every individual is valued for who they are. Join us in this pursuit of togetherness. Let's weave a tapestry of unity, acceptance, and love, where our shared humanity is celebrated in all its beautiful diversity. Together, we can create a world where being human means being there for one another. I'm thinking a lot about liberation today. How can we free our voices, our minds, ourselves from oppressive systems, workplaces, and social spaces? Anxiety stealing our ability to articulate our ideas and express ourselves clearly and completely. Toxic workplaces stifling and silencing voices who don't fit into some dominant way of communicating. Oppressive systems all around us including (but not limited to) white supremacy, misogyny, ableism, transphobia, homophobia, islamophobia, anti-semitism and the list goes on forcing us to critique and criticize ourselves and our voices. Liberation is something I've learned and am still learning from predominantly Black guides and teachers. And from those with lived experience of oppression that I will never understand. I believe our voices are vehicles for liberation. I believe our voices have the power to change our world. I believe liberation is possible. But it takes all of us using the power of our voices to speak truth to power. Calling out oppression when we see it. Calling each other in (and keeping our force of change on the systems that silence us and not each other). And imagining a new way forward through the power of collective liberation. Not just for people who look like us or share our ancestry. But for us all.
