I've been silent for a while, but after a month of job hunting, here are some personal stats I wanted to share: - 65 applications submitted - 21 denials - 42 with unknown status - 4 initial phone screenings - 1 hiring manager interview - 1 in-person interview scheduled For location preferences: - 28 applications for remote roles - 20 focused on Madison, Wisconsin - 12 in the Bay Area - 1 in Colorado - 2 in Milwaukee - 2 in Southern California These stats reflect our priority to stay in the Madison, Wisconsin area, either in-person or remotely. This job search is a family effort, with more considerations than just a good job opportunity elsewhere. Job hunting is demanding and requires a multifaceted approach with various search criteria across numerous platforms. It's time-consuming, wildly competitive, and filled with highs and lows. In honor of the U.S Open starting today, I am going to do my best to try and compare Pinehurst No.2 to Recruitment & Sales (cut me some slack). ⛳ Incredibly fast greens - At Pinehurst, if you miss your line and have too much pace you could be in a worse spot than you were to begin with. That is the same with hiring, without the proper processes and vetting, rushing through a hiring process could result you in a worse situation 2 months down the line than you were to begin with. The vetting, interviewing, and preparation we do with every candidate equates to a well read, well paced putt. 🏌♂️ Waste Areas and Native Land on Every Hole - At Pinehurst, lurking on the sides of every fairway are native areas with tough lies, but what will you do after landing in them? Landing in these could equate to anything that could interrupt a smooth interview process; untimely meetings, scheduling conflicts, etc. These will happen, and having a plan in place to quicky get back on track and not compounding any interruptions is key to a smooth interview and hiring process. The punch shot back into the fairway if you will. 🏌♀️ -4, -5 still might win, stay consistent for 4 days - Some are saying this is the most difficult a course will play all year and the winning score may only be -4,-5 while we were used to seeing winning scores at -12 and better. I equate this to my every day sales process, we must stay consistent to our approach and play the long game, not getting too highs on our wins or too low on our losses. The player who plays well all 4 days will win in the end, and we must stay consistent for all four fiscal quarters in our processes to win in the end. Some days may feel slow, but the process will win, trust it. Thanks for coming to my analogy of Pinehurst No.2 to every day Recruitment Sales.
