A snow day is part of your DEI mission and vision. Hear me out! If you’re in Oregon, you might be in the middle of a series of snow days. Meetings are cancelled, power is lost, and people are experiencing some tough conditions. How you make decisions for your staff today is reflective of the work you’ve done to create a culture of equity and inclusion. Does your diverse staff have different needs that are affected by the snow. Whether that is where they live or their physical abilities. Is there an equity lens being used to determine who is an essential worker and do they have the resources they have to work safely? Do people feel included in decision making or are you making decisions for those with the most power and privilege? DEI lives beyond hiring metrics. It is embedded in every decision you make. So when DEI is at risk of being defunded or outright banned, remember it lives in everything we do regardless of naming it or not. So how do you prioritize your staff’s wellness and safety on days like a snow day?

Executive Coach & DEI Consultant| Human-Centered Design Expert| Speaker| Strategic Planning Guru| I help companies take strategic action to improve culture and data around employee engagement and belonging.
September was one of my least favorite times of the year at work. It’s the time when many companies look at what they have yet to accomplish for the year and try to cram in as much as possible. But what if it didn’t have to be this way? Rest and labor can be synonymous. White Supremacy Culture teaches us that labor must equal strife and mistreatment – but there is another way. Using DEI principles, we can shift our perception and understanding of labor from one back-breaking to one filled with more ease. This looks like: 📍Acknowledging the racist, anti-Black origins of labor in the U.S. 📍Seeing labor as an extension of our values, not as a means of control or productivity 📍Prioritizing quality over quantity and growth over retribution Read the full article here! https://lnkd.in/gejwZNU7 Also, if you are a DEI or HR professional wanting to tackle these issues at your workplace or a woman of color struggling to quantify your work for a promotion or career change; sign up for our coaching special today to accelerate your growth and development! https://lnkd.in/gBceW2xF

It was a great day at the great place! My team and I had the privilege of attending Texas A&M's Staff Enrichment Day for the Division of Finance and Business Services which included three topics of interest: Wellness, Managing the Madness, and Taking the Lead (even without the title). Here are my top takeaways that I hope you can also apply to your daily life: 1. The greatest leaders are often the greatest public servants. 2. Equitable workload does not always mean equal workload. 3. There is no success in the workplace that can make up for failure in the home.

Throughout my journey in delivering effective and efficient facility services, I've often found inspiration in the words of Aristotle Onassis, "The secret to success is to know something nobody else knows." At the core of these words lies our resistance to complacency in the industry. We're always seeking that unique solution or perspective that sets us apart from the rest. Our mission is to explore the unexplored and gain a deep understanding of our operations and clients in ways that nobody else has. This means developing innovative solutions, novel approaches, and unique insights into our universe of comprehensive facility services. Every day, we aim to equip ourselves with exclusive knowledge to help us make our mark in the industry. Are you ready to join us on this journey? #OnassisWisdom #SecretToSuccess #FacilityServices

In the words of Indiana Jones, 'It's not the years, honey, it's the mileage.' And that rings true in the professional landscape we navigate. It’s the experiences, challenges, and achievements we amass over time that define our paths. Consider this as you outline your business strategies and professional milestones. Let's drive value with each mile we venture in our careers.

🌳 The story behind our brand 🌳 At Thomas Park, our brand holds a deep, personal connection to our roots. Our name was inspired by a park in Boston—Thomas Park—a place of pivotal significance to our CEO, EJ Rumpke. It’s where he made the decision to leave his career in accounting and move to Maryland to join forces with our CIO, Alex Kopicki.
