#MondayMotivation CASE STUDY: Serving as Thought Leaders to Address Community Issues Research shows that in order to build a robust and resilient economy, communities need to invest in #QualityOfPlace. Communities that invest in Quality of Place see long-term benefits economically and at the individual and community level. Quality of Place is essential in attracting and retaining talent for community economic growth, especially due to the unique remote work trends seen during COVID-19. Our friends Welborn Baptist Foundation wanted to understand how Quality of Place impacts a community and their region. WBF focuses on funding community-transforming initiatives in southwest Indiana. They are constantly looking ahead at how to best serve the needs of their region to advance the mission of the organizations there. They hired TCG as a thought partner to help understand the research and importance of Quality of Place work especially related to Talent Attraction goals. What did we do? ✔️ Conducted research in order to identify trends and promising practices related to Quality of Place work. ✔️ Summarized our research in a white paper on Quality of Place, which can be used to build awareness, align initiatives underway, and support new investments that will improve Quality of Place in the Greater Evansville region to attract and retain talent! According to the #Pittsburgh Regional Diversity Survey, our city is becoming increasingly #diverse, and it’s making a big impact 💥 The survey revealed that a growing number of Pittsburgh-area employers see value in increasing the diversity of the region’s workforce. And in an increasingly diverse world, the more diverse the region, the more appeal it holds for companies looking to relocate or expand. 🌍 But what about the #workers themselves? LCCI is participating in a UK-wide inquiry into workplace equity. We define workplace equity as creating a level playing field for individuals, recognising that we do not all start from the same place and that adjustments may be required to provide fair access to opportunity. Convened by the British Chambers of Commerce, the Workplace Equity Commission comprises businesses and experts from across civic society. The Commission will meet regularly over the next 12 months to consider evidence from companies and stakeholders in London and across the UK. We want to highlight best practices in London businesses, any challenges employers face and where more support may be needed. We aim to publish practical recommendations for employers, chambers and government on how SMEs can be supported to create fair and equitable workforces. The City of Plano is known as the City of Excellence. It’s no wonder then that for the second year in a row, Plano was named one of Forbes’ Best Midsized Employers in the United States. The annual ranking of the top 600 Midsized Employers is conducted in partnership with Statista. Rankings are based on a survey of more than 170,000 U.S.-based workers at American companies. Survey respondents evaluated their employer based on work-life balance, compensation, training programs, opportunities for advancement, diversity and health benefits. Participants included current employees, employees who had worked for the company within the past two years, and individuals familiar with the company through friends, family or peers in their industry. Greater weight was given to evaluations from current employees and former employees. Data from the past three years was included in the analysis, with recent data weighted more heavily, to better identify companies that have been rated well consistently over time. #TeamPlano (We’re hiring! If the term “workplace” refers to "any place in which workers work," then as Workplace Professionals, we cannot ignore the need to support workers from among the Deskless Workforce. These workers do not sit behind a desk to do their job, and have often been mistakenly discounted as “non-knowledge workers” – even though many knowledge workers are also from the Deskless Workforce. Most of these workers are also the most frequent occupiers of our spaces, and the biggest users of our workplace services – therefore among our most important customers.
