🎉 Highlights from the AMA Whitewater 2024 Regional Conference! I'm excited to share my experience participating virtually in the AMA Whitewater's 2024 Regional Conference. I took part in some exciting competitions:  🎨 The Sherwin-Williams Design Strategy Competition, where I had an hour to create a graphic and caption for LinkedIn.   📊 The AcuRite & Chaney Instrument Co. Digital Strategy Competition, where my partner Luke and I proposed a strategy and had a blast using AI to develop new brand characters. Proud to announce that we were selected as finalists, and won $100 for third place! This was especially rewarding considering we hadn’t met in person to collaborate on our presentation. It was also a privilege to hear from distinguished keynote speakers, including: 1. Joan Malcheski, Director of Brand Strategy & Marketing at the Green Bay Packers   I was inspired by Joan's emphasis on storytelling "through the experience," along with her invaluable advice for marketers: 1. Keep the end in mind, 2. Know what the end user wants, and 3. Identify the hook. I plan to apply these insights as I navigate my journey as a pre-professional and carry them into my future business career. 2. Lindsay Loridon, Senior Director of Client Consulting and Services at GMR Marketing   Lindsay’s insights into working with major brands for the Paris 2024 Olympics and preparations for the LA 2028 Olympics—projected to be the largest marketing event in history—were equally fascinating! These experiences have ignited my passion for marketing and equipped me with valuable tools for success. 3. Jerrod Woods, Senior Director of Marketing at Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. The icing on the cake was recently being shortlisted as a finalist for the upcoming Sport NSW awards night for 'Organisation of the year'! ➡ Governance reform: 40 Districts / 16 Zones consolidated into 16 Regions + uniformity across Region constitutions. ➡ Regional focus: State Champs in Dubbo - winning the community event of the year! Announced Ballina State Champs for 2025. An event that formerly cost $100,000 to deliver and now net $0. ➡ Inclusion: Multi-disability champs moved under our banner + delivered the first ever inter-state multi-disability test series vs VIC. ➡ Audiences: Delivered multi-cultural Bowls events in Western Sydney. ➡ FY24: 15% increase in revenue + 120% increase in sponsorship revenue + 121% in event revenue + 10% less reliant on member fees. ➡ Marketing: Launched 2 x large scale marketing campaigns (first we've ever delivered) driving over 19m impressions & promoting the sport. ➡ Database: Grew from 11,000 to 28,000+ subscribers. ➡ Members: Delivered the inaugural member conference (Mach II coming next Friday at Wenty Leagues) + 2 x Digital member conferences. ➡ Participation: Set records for Rookies & Mixed Pairs formats (48% growth YoY!). ➡ Govt: Unlocked tier 1 funding through the NSW office of Sport. ➡ Formats: Introduced the Platinum Pennant which saw incredible online broadcast reach and engagement. ➡ Partners: On-boarded some awesome people and partners in P&O Cruises (Nola Melamet) & Tabcorp (Amanda Budden / Matt Thomas) and if you are still reading.... thank you. Last week, I had the privilege of attending #CventCONNECT in San Antonio, marking my first in-person since Covid as an attendee. During his keynote, Reggie Aggarwal referenced some compelling statistics about the renewed focus on the “experience economy”. According to the Q1 2024 Freeman Trends Report, 80% of respondents say that in-person events are the most trusted of all available marketing channels and 74% say their opinion of a brand improved after an event. In my role in brand marketing, ensuring the success of our company-wide capstone events is pivotal. These events serve as crucial touchpoints where we not only showcase our achievements but also reaffirm the trust and confidence of our clients and partners. By meticulously planning and executing these gatherings, we aim to deepen relationships and enhance brand perception. It's a direct reflection of our commitment to maintaining strong, meaningful connections within our industry and beyond.
