Three things a professional of employable age should NEVER DO: - accept low-paying extra job offers, especially when they are time-consuming; - agree to work for an employer who refuses to sign an employment contract or otherwise officially register them, thereby avoiding the income tax, social security and other mandatory payments and depriving the employee of insurance and other benefits; - give up the search for better opportunities promising higher pay and promotion, and forget about professional and personal development.

The reality is this: US people are not kind about emojis. They don't see it as professional use in 'professional' situations and won't typically reacxt well towards it. Are they 'bad'? No, they get attention. Should you use emojis in a professional conversation with people in countries such as the US, it's not advisable. Are there situations where emojis are okay? Yes, Talking to your family, Texting someone on your team to be expressive and be memorable, Any situation where you won't be judged for your use of emojis, ... And any situation where you WANT to increase the casual feel of the interaction. Ot can be used like 'insider knowledge speak'. Where the person receiving the text feels they are chosen to be in the circle of talk. Just be aware: if you make some feel included, you could also unknowingly be pushing others away if they become aware of the 'secret coded speak'. #leadershipcommunicatrion #leadership #english

Are Germans smart or just lazy? I’d argue hours worked is a poor KPI for companies, so why do we focus on it in Macro Economics? The reality is that it’s a good benchmark but only in relation to other socio-economic figures, like: 1. Age 2. Gender 3. Output 4. Productivity 5. Taxes 6. Incentives For example, you can use it to look at how well men and women at certain ages are integrated into the workforce. Alternatively, you could look at correlations between taxes and hours worked. By just looking at two variables: taxes and hours worked: one could quite simply conclude that high taxes lead to less hours worked? But you then need to correct it for incentives. Take maternity leave for example in Germany. A fascinating topic in Economics. Maternity leave in the short-term might lead to less hours worked but higher productivity in the long-run due to better quality of life. Happier people are better for the economy as a whole ;) As you see, complaints about life in Germany being terrible and taxed death is rather short-sighted. Having lived in the “great” United States of America for 18 years, I can tell you, we have it pretty good here in Europe. There might be more drag on success, but when we do succeed, more people benefit. In the US it’s every “man” for “himself”, no thanks.
