Fiducial marks play a crucial role in SMT for several reasons: 🔹Reference Points: Fiducial marks act as reference points for the pick & place and Screen Printer machine's vision system. They provide a known and fixed location on the PCB, aiding in precise component placement during the assembly process. 🔹Alignment and Orientation: Fiducials help in aligning and orienting the PCB accurately. The machine uses these markers to determine the board's position, rotation, and scale, ensuring that components are placed with high precision. 🔹Compensation for PCB Variations: PCBs may have slight variations in dimensions or placement on the production line. Fiducials allow the pick & place machine to adapt and compensate for these variations, maintaining accuracy in component placement. 🔹Enhanced Accuracy and Yield: Proper fiducial use contributes to overall process accuracy.
