Addressing gaps in advising is critical to providing students with the necessary support to navigate the complex landscape of higher education and career planning.

The Texas College Access Network (TxCAN) is an initiative of Educate Texas that supports college access and aims to solve higher education access issues. The latest TXCAN blog dives into The University of Texas at Austin professor Dr. Matt Giani's report, "From Transactional to Transformational: Unpacking and Strengthening Advising Capacity". The report is a deep study into the significant gaps impeding effective advising for students and offers strategic solutions for groundbreaking reform. The IDOE's adjustments to the new high school diploma plan, guided by community concerns, are a positive step forward. With support from Indiana's higher education institutions, it's clear that our students will remain well-prepared for college, should they choose that route. While further listening, revisions, and iterations may be necessary, this approach shows that Indiana is on the right path to changing high school for the better to serve all Hoosier students.
