The IDOE's adjustments to the new high school diploma plan, guided by community concerns, are a positive step forward. With support from Indiana's higher education institutions, it's clear that our students will remain well-prepared for college, should they choose that route. While further listening, revisions, and iterations may be necessary, this approach shows that Indiana is on the right path to changing high school for the better to serve all Hoosier students. "When education adapts to the needs of its community, the result is stronger, more prepared students." https://lnkd.in/ewUzGKzb

"College could be free for many and affordable for all." 🎓 But how? Presented here by 𝐊𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐲, our director, is an overview of exactly what makes the enrollment management industry "so troubling" and specific recommendations for reining in its operators—such as national #college price controls. 📖 💡 📖 Flip to Chapter 10 in "𝑳𝒊𝒇𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑽𝒆𝒊𝒍 𝒐𝒏 𝑬𝒏𝒓𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕," a new book edited by our senior advisor Stephen Burd, to explore suggested solutions that keep public institutions priced low and that restore the very promise of public education after high school at the same time. Otherwise: this element of the American Dream "will keep getting more uncertain and expensive and out of reach until we're left with a collection of public memorials to a time when everyone could afford a college degree." ➡️ This "must-read" is available here for purchase: https://lnkd.in/etqQeGrm ➡️ And summarized here in a recent blog: https://lnkd.in/e3qnfvVU
