Short titbit of insight about #transnationaleducational (TNE) paradigm /models....Not repeating the two veteran's insights of Shankar Muralidharan sir and Avinav Sharma sir, here are my 3 cents from the vantage point of consulting in #highereducation, #edtech #education domains 💡 "Make in India, Teach the World", where India can position itself as a global education hub by combining its cost advantage and expertise in STEM fields. 💡 Cultural Exchange: Programs like NEP 2020 encourage foreign universities to set up campuses in India while promoting Indian education abroad. 💡 EdTech Amplification: Leveraging India's strong edtech base can fast-track global TNE initiatives. What else am I missing here? P.S: As Shankar Muralidharan sir refered to the starting piece of the famous Kipling's poem, let me continue that and close with his equally famous lines "But there is neither East nor West, Border, nor Breed, nor Birth, When two strong men stand face to face, though they come from the ends of the earth!" In this case, lets replace men with Universities'/HEIs :-) :-)

This training, in collaboration with BodhBridge ESPL, a company founded by Indian Institute of Technology, Madras alumni, aims to empower teachers with the expertise needed to guide students in making informed career choices. Potential is equally distributed, but opportunity is not! This is especially true for students who are transitioning from the familiar comfort of school into the wider world of higher education and career choices. We all recognize that every young person, regardless of the background, possesses inherent abilities and talents, but not everyone has equal access to the resources and support systems necessary to succeed. As Rotarians, we work with schools where most students come from underprivileged backgrounds, and their parents are often uninformed and unsupported. This makes career guidance and mentoring not just helpful, but essential and transformative. The integration of vocational and technical training within the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, marks a paradigm shift, aiming to reflect 21st-century realities in education. Yet, a persistent gap exists between the education and job readiness. It is alarming that approximately 93% of India’s youth are aware of only seven career streams, despite there being nearly 250, available in the Indian job market. The transition from school to work is now recognized as one of the most pressing challenges facing India’s education system. The 10th standard, or SSC, is a pivotal stage where students should reflect on their skills, strengths, and preferences and how these align with opportunities for further education and career pathways. It is at this juncture that we must step in to guide them, helping them choose a stream that suits their talents, aptitudes, and dreams. As the Vocational Services Director at Rotary Club of Deonar, I had the privilege of contributing to this transformative process for thousands of students. We helped open their eyes to the vast opportunities available and provided collective and personalized guidance to help them choose a rewarding educational and career path. Our flagship initiative, ‘After 10th, What?’, introduced 9th and 10th standard students to a wide array of higher education options leading to meaningful career opportunities. Initiatives like MasterClass in Maths, MS-CIT, and Career Fair further expanded their access to resources, giving them the tools to pursue paths that are both suitable and fulfilling to their aspirations. The importance of career guidance is emphasized in both NEP 2020 and the UN’s Education 4.0 framework, highlighting its relevance in today’s educational landscape. Our work was recognized by Seva Mandal Education Society, SNDT University, where we were honoured for our contribution in Vocational Guidance leading to informed career choices. I had the honour of representing the Rotary Club of Deonar, as we received the Citation and Award at the hands of Dr Vilas Nandavadekar, Registrar - The SNDT University, for our role in guiding and mentoring young minds. I truly believe that today’s youth often need just one push, one opportunity, one mentor to set them on the road to a brighter future. What are your thoughts? 🤔

Empowering Leadership in B-Schools: A Call for Inclusive Career Led Committees As proud members of student-driven campuses, it is crucial for us to ensure that our B-schools remain inclusive and fair, especially when it comes to the selection and functioning of the Placement Committee—the cornerstone of our career journeys. I've observed several instances where the dynamics within these committees have adversely affected students' careers and emotional well-being. It's high time we address this issue with strong leadership and collective responsibility. The Placement Committee is not just another group—it's a "Make or Break" committee. Its impact on students' futures is profound, and its decisions should be guided by fairness, empathy, and respect for all. Every stakeholder, from placement heads to management officials, must play an active role in fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and heard. Common incidents, such as freshers being disrespectful towards students with work experience, can create a toxic atmosphere. Experienced students often stay silent out of fear of jeopardizing their placement opportunities. During my MBA, I made it a point to stand up against such behavior. I believe that if you give in once, the cycle of mistreatment never ends, regardless of whether you're at fault. I urge following batch students to stand united and support each other. Remember, we all pay the same fees and deserve equal respect and opportunities. Let's not succumb to undue pressure from the Placement Committee's negative behavior. Instead, let's collaborate to find smart solutions and ensure a positive, respectful, and empowering environment for everyone. Together, we can make our B-school experience worth it. Let's lead by example and create a culture of mutual respect and shared responsibility.
