Day one at the Blue Earth Summit today has been a powerful affirmation of the growing momentum to tackle plastic pollution, particularly around reducing single-use plastics. Fantastic to see and feel the energy and commitment shared by innovators and thought leaders in driving solutions to the plastic crisis. A highlight for me was the panel discussion ‘Our Thriving Post-Plastic Future – How Will We Make Stuff?’ which explored groundbreaking innovations that could lead us towards a plastic-free world. The conversation was a deep dive into reimagining how products are designed, manufactured, and consumed, with a focus on sustainable materials, circular economy principles, and responsible production processes. Thank you to inspirational panelists Nick Doman Emily Penn Prof Sally Beken, Fellow IOM3 who shared ideas with speakers from across industry, ranging from bioplastics and compostable materials to innovative reuse systems, all of which have the potential to drastically reduce our reliance on single-use plastics. It was an exciting and hopeful vision of the future, chaired and moderated by the inspirational Sian Sutherland co-founder of A Plastic Planet It is vital that businesses and governments come together to scale these innovations. We’re at the tipping point where practical, scalable solutions can create a genuine shift. Looking forward to day 2 🌎

Our team of drivers has undergone comprehensive training in fuel-efficient driving techniques, resulting in an impressive 5% reduction in emissions. But we don’t stop there; we are diligently exploring the integration of electric vehicles into our operations, with ambitious plans to achieve an all-electric fleet within the next decade. Today is #GlobalRecyclingDay a moment to celebrate one element of building a circular economy. All too often, however, the focus on production and waste ignores the importance of second-hand markets and re-use. Achieving the objectives of the twin green and digital transition, Europe needs to become a strong supporter of second-hand goods which is why we are calling on the European Commission to make second-hand the first choice in Europe. 🌍✨ Good news about our CSR initiative! 🌿📦 We are delighted to share an encouraging step forward in our CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiative. We have undertaken significant changes to reduce our carbon footprint, with a direct impact on our shipping process. 📦 Optimising wedging for a greener future 🌱 We identified a major opportunity for improvement in our supply chain: by rethinking the wedging of our products in shipping boxes, we were able to achieve a significant reduction in our packaging consumption. 🌿 Switching from packing peanuts to eco-friendly packing paper 📜 Previously, we used filler peanuts to stabilise our parcels. These peanuts had a composition that was harmful to the environment and took up a considerable amount of storage space (0.5 m³ per bag). Thanks to an informed transition to more sustainable and responsible paper filler, we have managed to reduce this carbon footprint. 💚 The figures speak for themselves 📊 For 1 month, our company went from consuming 2 m³ of cushioning material to just 0.059 m³, which represents a reduction of 23 m³ of packaging waste. 🌎 Another step in our commitment to the environment 🌱 This change is just a part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability.
