Are you a ‘reacher’ or are you a ‘looker’? 💡 Went to teamLab Borderless in Tokyo and was blown away by this art installation in one of the rooms. Everyone was looking at the same light show but one guy out in front reached out to see what would happen if he touched it. *zing* The light shot up into the sky like a shooting star. Guess what happened next? Everyone tried to reach for the next one. And the next. And the next. This seems to happen in life. Most people start by ‘watching’ bright things. You could think of them as opportunities. Very few reach out for them. When the ‘lookers’ see that it worked for the ‘reacher’. Then they jump on the bandwagon and fight for the next opportunity. There’s value in being the first person to reach out. After that, it’s usually a frenzy. Early move advantage. That’s the game. PS. Go to anything teamLab. Yesterday, We hosted our first hackathon of the year at Luno, with plans for another later this year 🤞. As always, I was amazed by the quality and execution of the entries from every team. We had a total of 18 teams from across the organisation, not just engineering, and dedicated 2 days for them to work on their projects. The results were incredible. The theme for this hackathon was "Keep it simple." Participants were challenged to rethink and improve processes and complex customer journeys, looking beyond the status quo to reimagine how we work and what we create. Here are some key insights I've gathered on the value of hosting a hackathon: 1. Innovation and quick thinking: Hackathons encourage creative thinking and problem-solving, leading to the development of innovative solutions and new ideas that can benefit the 2. Cross-Functional Collaboration and team building: Hackathons bring together employees from different departments, fostering cross-functional collaboration and breaking down silos. Team Building: These events promote collaboration and teamwork, helping employees to build stronger relationships and improve their ability to work together effectively. 3. Customer-Centric Solutions: By focusing on real-world problems, hackathons can lead to solutions that are closely aligned with customer needs and market demands. I am incredibly proud of everyone who participated, our fantastic judges, and the brilliant team that helped organise the event 🚀 .

Few understand the pleasure of binge building across multiple hackathons. There's something uniquely satisfying about diving deep into a project, collaborating with passionate individuals, and seeing ideas come to life in just a matter of days or even hours. Hackathons have always been my favorite playground—where innovation, creativity, and hard work converge. It's in these intense sessions that some of the best solutions are born. Delighted to share some insights on the latest #PiDay trends. This year, we saw an incredible surge of innovation, with people finding new and engaging ways to celebrate this unique, math-inspired day. From virtual π recitation competitions to innovative π-themed baking demonstrations, we've recognized a shift in celebrating this day from a purely academic focus to a more culturally inclusive event. Virtual classrooms and offices globally encouraged activities incorporating mathematics, technology, and also creativity, expanding the scope of #PiDay beyond its traditional boundaries.
