It all started on a laid-back evening after work. I was catching up with my brother, as I often do, discussing the latest in his industry. That night, there were no hot topics on his end – just a normal chat to stay in the loop. But, later that evening, I received a message from him that would change everything. He had come across a fantastic opportunity with a fintech company with specialization in point-of-sale (POS) payment collection and business tools like inventory management, e-invoicing, and business formalization. Knowing my skills and experience, he immediately thought I’d be a great fit. I reviewed the role requirements and deliverables – and saw a clear alignment with my expertise. I applied, went through two rounds of interviews, and landed the offer! I couldn’t be more grateful for the power of close networks and having people who genuinely look out for my growth. This experience reminded me that opportunities can come from the most unexpected places, and staying connected can open doors you didn't even know existed. Expnd just finished a search and... We f*cking crushed it! They had been working with an agency since January but still hadn't found the right candidate. They needed a BDR, but since they're a fintech, the candidate had to be quite tech-savvy as well, which isn't always easy to find. Here's how long it took us: 2 weeks 😎 I believe business is a game of value - the player who delivers the most value over time wins, and this is just one of those cases. Looking for a new role, there isn't anything at the moment that I would say I am a perfect fit for. How easy is it to start a new product at a decent level? IE I have a wealth of experience in Collateral but also Custody and Asset Servicing, but how easy would the tools and experience I have at my disposal translate to Payments or Network Management? Is the product knowledge at SVP/Director level more important or can they be learned on the go? What are peoples experiences of taking a leap out of their comfort zone and into a new product?
