Window View. Oil on canvas. 48" x 36". michaelhannaartist.com The concept behind the painting would be a sense of isolation and solitude with great privilege for the viewer to have a home with a front view of the Swiss Alps. Like a minimalist and an impressionist, I only block in impressions of the subject with form defined by solid blocks of color followed by shadows, also formed through wedges of tone. The statement about the painting defines privilege as almost unobtainable and dreamlike through the minimalist approach to form and imaginative colors with mysterious, expressive brushwork. I prefer to draw out my paintings with magenta sketches on the canvas and crayon studies rather than use a projector, ruler, or grid because I wish to create a personal interpretation of form and environment rather than just a representation. The painting is more of a symbol than a portrayal because the surface remains completely flat with only solid blocks of shades of shadow defining three-dimensionality.

Places to rest Wassily Kandinsky - „Abstract art allows the viewer to see the world with different eyes, to grasp and understand it without the distraction of the figurative." Abstract works are an important part of my portfolio. Hilma af Klint is now credited to have produced the very first abstract painting in 1906, while Wassily Kandinsky together with Robert Delaunay and Piet Mondrian have to be considered the pioneers of gaining public acceptance for abstract art. I love working abstract because it sets me free from all figurative demands or expectations. At the same time, working abstract is highly challenging because it is about creating an outcome we do not know. Each area, each line, each encounter of colors is absolutely new and cannot be associated with something existing. In „ Places to rest“ you can see these forces at work. Brush strokes and a kaleidoscope of colors produce lines and areas that form an overall composition. Vivid and lively yet balanced. Can you sense what Kandinsky meant with „allowing you, the viewer, to see the world with different eyes“? In the comment section you will see close-ups of certain parts of the work and also pictures from earlier stages during the process of creation. Places to rest, 2024, 40 x 30 inch, 102 x 76 cm, acrylic and oil on canvas Painting by Sabine Kuehner

Name of Painting: FERTILIZATION OF MIND Medium: Acrylic on canvas Size: 8" x 8" Year Painted: 2022 FERTILIZATION OF MIND is one of my simpler and most dynamic smaller paintings I did in 2022. This was definitely conceived with a certain energy I am still trying to understand. Some of my paintings come into existence with the help and guidance from an unexplainable force. I don't always feel this force but it is like an energy field that consumes me and guides me as I create. It's like being IN THE ZONE where everything flows effortlessly. Another way to describe this is being focused and connected to a Higher level of Consciousness. In this state of consciousness everything becomes very clear and i can see everything from a Bird's Eye View. My past and my present as I relive through memory my past History and even beyond that - where I ascended from. Maybe I just have a very active and picturesque imagination. Nevertheless, I see, I am guided and I created. I see images and designs, shapes and forms and many lines. Everything seems to be made of million upon million of tiny dots that appear to connect to each as I step further away in my mind's eye. Then I see lines that flow and form themselves into varying shapes and images. In this instance, I was led only to brighten a few. Hence the simplification and sophistication of this painting.

Description of the painting: The Abstract Face in white by Gela Mikava Gela Mikava This painting appears to be an abstract portrait or depiction of a face. The face itself is rendered in loose, gestural brushstrokes using muted colors like grays, yellows, and greens, giving it an ethereal and somewhat obscured quality. The most distinctive feature is the bright red, textured surface at the bottom third of the composition, contrasting starkly with the more muted tones above. This red section has a dotted or stippled pattern, perhaps meant to suggest fabric or another tactile surface. The background is a pale off-white color with visible brushwork and textures, lending an unfinished or raw aesthetic to the piece. The overall style blends abstract expressionist elements with a more representational suggestion of a face or figure. The juxtaposition of the bold red shape against the softer, amorphous facial features creates an intriguing visual tension and sense of ambiguity. While quite abstract, the work seems to explore the expressive potential of portraying a human presence through fragmented forms, colors, and textures in an emotionally evocative manner. The piece invites the viewer to interpret and connect with the enigmatic visage emerging from the dynamic surface. details

“Spirit” is an acrylic and oil painting 80cms H x 60cms W x 2.5cms D on exhibition quality canvas. The painting is built in layers over a lightly primed canvas. I work directly over the canvas using brushes, knives, cloths and squeegees to manage layers of acrylic and oil paint. It is a continuous process of ‘correction’. I erase and rub away surfaces to reveal what is hidden. The boundaries of what can be managed in a painting present a constant challenge to me and through a process of layering, cancellation and improvisation my intention is always to test such boundaries. This painting takes a more abstract, objective and empirical direction. Initial inspiration begins with my astonishment of religious wars, if there can ever be such a thing as a war that is religious. I look at and read the ugly media reports of this world. A Roy Harper song “The Spirit Lives” – “The history of religion is the history of the State, Incestuous exploiters of a catalogue of hate, The man of peace was over-run by armies of the "Lord", Who signed their names to any war, And sang to praise the sword , The mission heads for outer space, The voices ring and swell, With aeons of self-righteousness, The senseless echoes knell” The painting found its own way, a combination of strict order balanced bounded by chaotic expression. There were to be some words used in the image, however, this idea was not possible. There was no accommodation.
