The Pivots and Pivots of Agile Transformation The consulting industry is facing strong headwinds, with major firms like Deloitte, Bain, and McKinsey seeing slower growth and inflated headcounts. As a seasoned agile practitioner, I'm fascinated by Deloitte's agile and innovative approach to this challenge. As covered in this Business Insider article, Deloitte is leveraging AI to assess their workforce and strategically shift people into more promising business areas. By taking an agile, iterative mindset, they can fluidly reorganize their talent as new opportunities emerge. This reflects key agile values like responding to change over following a static plan, and individuals and interactions over rigid processes. Rather than reflexively turning to layoffs, Deloitte is adapting their workforce in an agile way, striving to retain and redeploy their people. The article also notes Deloitte is using AI to eliminate repetitive work. This exemplifies the agile drive for continuous improvement through experimenting and learning. Automating rote tasks frees up employees to focus on more strategic initiatives that require human judgment and creativity. Of course, agile change is never easy, even with leading-edge AI. There are undoubtedly growing pains as people pivot into new roles and teams reform around evolving priorities. But by embracing agile principles, Deloitte is charting an exciting path forward, balancing technology and talent to emerge stronger. The winds of change are blowing fast for all of us. How can we apply agile thinking to ride these rapids, rather than be capsized by them? Deloitte offers an inspiring case study in organizational agility. What lessons can we learn from their approach? How might we start small, learn quickly, and scale our agility? I welcome your perspectives! https://lnkd.in/ePetEFye
